Local Girls Head to All World Irish Dance Championships in Ireland

Irish Dancers from the Glen Ellyn location of the McNulty School of Irish Dance Compete in Ireland

Local dancers Emma Moran (Arlington Heights) and Julia Hannon (Naperville) from the McNulty School of Irish dance student head to Belfast Northern Ireland this coming week to compete in the elite All World Irish Dance Championships.

Both girls, who take classes at the Glen Ellyn location of the school, qualified in November at the regional qualifiers(Mid-American Championships) which were held in Schaumburg.

Due to Covid the World Championships have not been held since 2019.

Both are in eight grade and train 3-5 days per week in studio and at home daily when not in class.

The young ladies will compete in their qualifying rounds on Monday April 11th and if they make it thru, the final 3 rounds will be on Tuesday April 12th.

Founded in 1971 in Naperville by Barbara McNulty T.C.R.G., the McNulty School has grown to become one of the most active schools in the Midwest, with satellite classes across Chicagoland, Rockford, Ill., as well classes in Lake Geneva , Wisconsin and Dubuque, Iowa.

The McNulty School of Irish Dance seeks to preserve the rich traditions of Irish music and dance and to pass them down to future generations.
