Man Charged With Going 135 MPH, Killing Woman In Crash Out On Bail: Report

The judge had recently denied a request to raise Thunderkick's bail to $2 million.

WHEATON, IL —A man charged with driving 135 mph and causing a fiery, fatal crash in Wheaton while he was allegedly on barbiturates is out on bail. Weeks after Judge George Bakalis denied the prosecution's request to raise bail for Brian Thunderkick to $2 million, 62, Thunderkick posted 10 percent of his $150,000 bail. Thunderkick, who allegedly told police he wanted his next car to be a Mustang, is now restricted to home confinement.

Thunderkick will be permitted to leave his home for court dates, meetings with his lawyer, and doctor's appointments, according to Daily Herald. He is also required to wear a GPS to track his location and must refrain from ingesting alcohol or prescription drugs.

Thunderkick was charged with reckless homicide after a Sept. 30 accident in which the Camaro he was driving hit a Honda Accord driven by Erika Villagomez, 22, of Elgin. The car Villagomez was in burst into flames and eyewitnesses who tried to rescue her say she was trapped inside and screaming. Prosecutors say Thunderkick attempted to leave the scene of the crash and tried to fight off police who detained him.

When prosecutors petitioned Bakalis to raise Thunderkick's bail, he said there was not enough evidence at the time to add charges to the defendant's reckless homicide charge. They said Thunderkick told Wheaton police that he didn't believe he should face consequences as a result of the fatal crash and that he wanted his next car to be a Mustang.

Prosecutors also submitted a dashcam video in which Thunderkick's car can allegedly be seen speeding past a patrol car. An investigation of the black box in Thunderkick's Camaro later showed he was going 135 mph at the time of impact.

A urine DUI test on Thunderkick came back positive for barbiturates, but prosecutors are still waiting for the complete DUI test results.

Thunderkick is set to appear in court again on October 30.
