Man Shot Parked Cars Outside Wheaton Apartment Complex: Cops
Police say Anthony Holland, 23, was firing shots at a car as it fled the apartment complex after an altercation.

WHEATON, IL — A Wheaton man is in custody after he was accused of firing gunshots at multiple cars parked outside his apartment complex in Wheaton Thursday. Anthony Holland, 23, of the 1300 block of North Main Street, was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm and reckless discharge of a firearm in connection with the incident.
Police got to the scene just before 11 p.m. Thursday to find four cars with broken windows and bullet holes. After an investigation, police say the shooting took place after an early altercation in which someone broke a car window with a baseball bat. Holland is accused of firing shots in the direction of a vehicle as it fled that altercation.

“It is alleged that in the late evening hours last Thursday night, the defendant demonstrated a blatant disregard of the law and public safety when he opened fire just outside his home,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a news release.
Berlin added, “This type of violent behavior that puts the public at risk will most certainly not be tolerated and will be met with the full force of the law. Thankfully, no one was injured or killed as a result of Mr. Holland’s alleged violent actions."

Holland is currently being held in DuPage County Jail on $750,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court again Aug. 23.
