New District Boundaries Approved By DuPage County Board

WHEATON, IL — DuPage County Board members approved a new map Tuesday that redesignates the county's electoral districts for the next 10 years. Per Illinois law, county electoral districts must be reapportioned every decade after the U.S. Census.

The law aims to keep the population of each county district relatively equal. The DuPage County Board districts currently have a population deviation of less than one percent, a news release said Tuesday.

DuPage County Board's Redistricting Committee was established in Jan. 2021. Since its inception, the committee has had 11 meetings and four open houses about the reapportionment. Residents were also invited to submit public feedback about the redistricting online.

The map below shows DuPage County's previous districts, along with the redrawn districts:

“From the beginning, our goal has been to create a fair map that keeps communities intact,” said Jim Zay, chairman of the DuPage County Board Redistricting Committee. Zay added,“I’m proud of the County Board for putting politics aside to create a fair, transparent, bipartisan map.”
