PRC Hires Intern with Funding from Tyson Foods, Inc.

Mariah Mallinger begins her internship in June.

People's Resource Center (PRC) has been awarded funding from Tyson Foods, Inc. in support of the Summer Community Internship Program. The program provides full-time college students with an eight-week paid summer job to assist community organizations and gain experience with diverse social issues.

Mariah Mallinger was hired to fill the new position. "I am very excited to work with PRC as a summer intern and am most looking forward to the hands on work I will be doing with the community,” she said. “The priceless experiences and exposure I will obtain this summer will further my journey and passion as I work towards becoming a dietitian in the next few years."

The Tyson Foods Summer Community Internship Program is a partnership between Campus Compact of Illinois and Tyson Foods, Inc. which provides an invaluable opportunity for select college students to gain professional experience while making a positive impact in the community. During the summer program, interns will also attend professional development opportunities with Tyson Foods, Inc. focused on cultural awareness and corporate social responsibility.

lllinois and Iowa Campus Compacts manage the Community Summer Jobs Program and are the face-to face contact between Tyson Foods, students, and nonprofits.

“Mariah will contribute to efforts to make PRC a model for healthy food access in DuPage County,” said Christina LePage, PRC Senior Director of Programs. “We look forward to spreading awareness of PRC’s services to those who need them with the support of Tyson and Campus Compact.” People’s Resource Center was one of 20 organizations in the Chicagoland area selected by Illinois Campus Compact to host a Tyson Foods Community Intern during the summer of 2019.
