PRC Proudly Announces its Capital Campaign, Building a Better Tomorrow
People's Resource Center expands its Wheaton Campus with a new, 11,000-square-foot building.

People’s Resource Center (PRC) is proud to announce the launch of the community phase of its transformational campaign, which has already raised over 90% of its campaign goal to add a new building to its Wheaton Campus on Naperville Road in Wheaton, Ill.
PRC launched plans for Building a Better Tomorrow in 2021, including the purchase of adjacent properties to the 201 Naperville Road location and their subsequent demolition, to make way for an additional new 11,000 square foot facility. PRC’s Wheaton services will soon be delivered in a 2-building Campus, with both buildings offering expanded service space and additional parking.
“The improved Wheaton Campus will be a milestone for our mission,” said PRC CEO, Jenifer Fabian. “Since we moved into our current facility in Wheaton 20 years ago, our array of programs and our service volume have doubled. Volunteers and staff have warmly welcomed our neighbors, but due to space constraints our Wheaton building no longer provided the service environment our neighbors deserve. The new improved and expanded Wheaton Campus will be a dignified and welcoming space to connect and serve DuPage County neighbors.”

With an overall goal of $8 million, the expanded Wheaton campus will feature a spacious food pantry with more storage of fresh produce, a state-of-the-art loading dock and much-needed additional parking. Dedicated space will be added for Job Coaching and Literacy Tutoring along with social services programs. The improved campus will hold the full range of PRC programs, with assistance for immediate needs as well as skill-building empowerment programs.
“Our planning team was thoughtful and thorough in determining how PRC can best address our community’s needs now and in the years to come. The board joins me in celebrating this tremendous step in support of our neighbor-to-neighbor mission,” said PRC Board President & volunteer, Erin Norton.

Campaign Chair John Wallerius shared, “We are grateful to the many individuals, foundations and partners who have propelled our fundraising thus far, and look forward to the entire community’s involvement to build momentum and reach the goal.”
An exciting opportunity is now open to the full community to participate in Building a Better Tomorrow. An anonymous group of generous supporters has pledged $100,000 as a matching gift challenge. Currently, each campaign donation will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $100,000. As CEO Jeni Fabian puts it, “PRC’s values of Dignity, Welcome and focus on Neighbors have shaped every step of this special project. We are thrilled to invite everyone to be part of this milestone and help make PRC’s expanded Wheaton Campus a reality!”
The campaign will continue through the end of 2024, with the official grand opening of the Wheaton Campus planned for early 2025.
