Ride Shut Down At DuPage County Fair After Death At Ohio State Fair
DuPage County Fair has shut down the "Freak Out" ride after a teen died on a similar ride in Ohio Wednesday.

WHEATON, IL — The Illinois Department of Labor is shutting down some rides at carnivals and fairs throughout the state after one person died and several others were injured on a ride at the Ohio State Fair Wednesday. when the Fireball ride malfunctioned. As a safety precaution, visitors at the DuPage County Fair won't be able to ride the Freak Out ride, a high-intensity ride that's similar to the Fire Ball, WLS reports.
The Ohio State Fair ride malfunctioned in midair, causing one of the seating pods to completely detach from the ride. Some riders were thrown from the pod and severely injured. Tyler Jarrell, 18, of Ohio, was killed in the Ohio State Fair accident. The Fire Ball swings at 180 degrees while rapidly spinning at 360 degrees, according to the Butler Amusements website.
The Freak Out ride that Illinois officials have shut down at the DuPage County Fair also quickly rotates as customers swing up to 40 feet in the air via a boom arm. Butler Amusement describes the Freak Out ride as a "thrilling journey" and markets the ride to teens and adults.
