Fired College of DuPage Administrator is Eligible for Unemployment: Board

Lynn Sapyta was fired from the College of DuPage in September.

The Illinois Department of Employment Security Board of Review has upheld a prior ruling by an administrative law judge that a former College of DuPage employee, who college officials say was fired for misconduct, is entitled to her unemployment benefits, the Daily Herald reports.

In the July 29 ruling, the board ruled Lynn Sapyta, a former assistant vice president for financial affairs and controller, should receive her unemployment and that the College of DuPage “failed to provide sufficient evidence to support its position that the claimant was discharged for willful and deliberate misconduct connected with her work,” according to the article.

College officials said Sapyta was fired in September for failing to protect the college’s financial integrity, the newspaper reports.
