Suspect In Fatal 135 MPH Crash Unable To Attend Arraignment

Brian Thunderkick, 62, who is out on bond, was unable to make his court date due to mental health issues.

WHEATON, IL — A Warrenville man charged in a fiery crash that claimed a woman's life in Wheaton was not in attendance for his arraignment Monday. Brian Thunderkick, 62, who is accused of causing the crash that killed Erika Villagomez, 22, of Elgin, is currently being treated for mental health issues. Thunderkick's court date has been rescheduled for Nov. 6.

Thunderkick had recently released from DuPage County Jail after he posted $15,000 bond. Just prior to Thunderkick's release, prosecutors had petitioned Judge George Bakalis to raise his bail after a urinalysis showed Thunderkick had barbiturates in his system at the time of the fatal crash. Bakalis denied the request, saying more evidence would be needed. The results of Thunderkick's full DUI test are still pending.

As part of his release conditions, Thunderkick was only permitted to leave home for court dates and appointments for mental and physical health care.
