Wheaton Chamber, Innovation DuPage partner to host DEI series
"Diversity Matters: A New Mindset for Today's Leaders" offered virtually January through March
The Wheaton Chamber of Commerce and Innovation DuPage will offer a three-part series on diversity, equity and inclusion called “Diversity Matters: A New Mindset for Today’s Leaders.” This virtual series will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 12, February 16, and March 9 of 2022.
The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) Committee of the Wheaton Chamber partnered with Innovation DuPage to host this series, designed to provide practical and informative programs to businesspeople in DuPage County. This virtual series will answer questions about the current demographic landscape, how to integrate DEI into an organization and how leaders can work together to be inspiring examples of inclusivity.
Speakers for Part I on January 12, “Wheaton & DuPage County: Today, 2030 and Beyond,” include David Roth, executive director for the DuPage Federation on Human Services Reform; Jacob Kniep, founder of OUTspoken Leaders; Kate Beck of AbilityLinks; and Carlos Johnson of DONKA, Inc. Shefali Trivedi, executive director of Giving DuPage will moderate this panel and speakers will address how shifting demographics and cultural change have impacted business.

Part II on February 16 will cover “DEI Terminology & Lexicon: Why Words Matter,” and will feature Tracey Crawford and Oralethea Davenport, both of Northwest Special Recreation Association (NWSRA). Dr. Joshua Lederman of Lederman Chiropractic & Sports Medicine, chair of the Wheaton Chamber's DEI Committee, will moderate.
On March 9, Ms. Crawford and Ms. Davenport return for Part III to discuss “Getting Started: Crafting Your Diversity Statement” for businesses that are ready to bring DEI into the structure of their organizations. Katie Uram, manager of member experience at Innovation DuPage, will serve as moderator.
