Wheaton Charity Serves Meals to Emergency Workers Across Country

The Theosophical Order of Service, USA (TOS-USA), a national volunteer-run charity based in Wheaton, IL, has begun serving healthy meals to hospital workers across the country. The object of the project is to get food into the hands of busy emergency workers who may not have time to leave their posts for lunch, while also supporting restaurants during this difficult time. They are seeking donations and volunteers in order to expand to more hospitals nationwide.

The project began with the delivery of 100 meals to Northwestern Hospital in Chicago on April 3. On April 8, the organization delivered 50 meals to Illinois Masonic Hospital in Chicago in partnership with family-operated restaurant Old Jerusalem, and on Wednesday April 15 delivered 50 meals to HarborView Hospital in Seattle, WA in partnership with restaurant Cedars Seattle. More drop-offs are planned.

When TOS-USA Board member Jason Shreeram contacted Northwestern, Josh Hasson of Northwestern indicated that they were, "never in a situation like this, we are completely overwhelmed," and was very grateful for the donations.

Interested donors can donate to the project at www.theoservice.org/donate by selecting the donation option “Providing Meals to Emergency Workers." As TOS-USA is an all-volunteer organization, 100% of donations will go straight into the project.
