Wheaton Church to Host Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr
Annual event to take place at 6:30 pm, Monday, January 21

Please join your neighbors at “Living The Dream,” the 29th Annual Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., at 6:30 pm, Monday, January 21 at Gary United Methodist Church in Wheaton. The annual event welcomes people of all races, faiths, traditions, ethnic backgrounds and economic classes, along with public, educational, business and religious leaders, to celebrate the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on this national holiday.
The keynote speaker will be Rev. Dr. Harold Middlebrook of Knoxville, Tennessee. Born in Memphis on July 4, 1942, Middlebrook was a friend of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and an active member of the civil rights movement. He received his bachelor’s degree from Atlanta’s Morehouse College in 1963 and was ordained as a minister in 1966. His contributions to the civil rights movements are numerous, including serving on the strategy committee of the Community on the Move for Equality. He is also the founder of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration Commission of Greater Knoxville.
The event will include singing by Wheaton’s Second Baptist Church Music Ministry, and the Praise and Dance Troupe from Chicago’s Mt. Bethel M.B. Church. For more information, you may contact the MLK Committee at 630-260-0190 and visit the website at www.dupagemlk.org.
