Wheaton City Manager Announces Retirement

Donald Rose has been the city manager in Wheaton since 1980.

Wheaton City Manager Donald Rose has informed Wheaton Mayor Michael Gresk and the Wheaton City Council that he will retire on April 30, 2016.

Rose was appointed to the position of Wheaton City Manager on November 1, 1980 following the resignation of then city manager William Kirchoff, who became the City Manager in Lakewood, Colorado.

Rose started his employment with Wheaton in May of 1974 when he was hired by Kirchoff as the Assistant to the City Manager. Over the next six years, Rose also performed the duties of assistant city manager and deputy city manager.

The Wheaton City Council on Monday will consider appointing the current assistant city manager, Michael Dzugan, to the position of city manager effective May 1, 2016. Dzugan has served as Wheaton’s Assistant City Manager for the past 24 years.

Prior to coming to Wheaton, Dzugan was the Assistant City Manager in Crystal Lake.
