Wheaton College Hazing Defense Attorneys Request Medical Records

Defense attorneys are hoping to prove that the victim had shoulder issues long before he was allegedly kidnapped and beaten by five men.

WHEATON, IL — Defense attorneys in the ongoing Wheaton College hazing case have asked to see hospital records to verify the legitimacy of the alleged victim's reported injuries. The victim reportedly required several surgeries for injured shoulders after five Wheaton College football players allegedly beat and kidnapped him before leaving him half-naked on a nearby baseball field.

Terry Ekl, who represents the victim, told Daily Herald the prosecution had offered to provide these medical records to Judge Brian Telander, but defense attorneys want to subpoena their own copy of the records.

Kyler Kregel, Noah Spielman, Benjamin Pettway, Samuel TeBos, and James Cooksey have been charged with abducting an underclassman, beating him, and dragging him onto a baseball field in a 2016 hazing incident at Wheaton College.
