Wheaton Cops Investigate Attempted Child Abduction On Pierce

Police say the child was mowing their lawn when a man pulled up and asked them to mow his lawn.

WHEATON, IL — Wheaton police are investigating a report of an attempted child abduction that took place early Wednesday. The incident was reported around 11:45 a.m. in the 200 block of South Pierce, according to a news release from city officials.

The boy told police that he was mowing his front lawn when a man pulled up in a black SUV with black rims and tinted windows. The man reportedly invited the boy into his SUV after asking him to mow his lawn.

The boy told the man that he would need his parents to drive him and the man drove off, according to police.

The man was described as an African-American or Hispanic male in his 40s with an average build, medium-length black hair, and an unshaven face. He was last seen wearing a gray and white hooded sweatshirt.

Police say this incident does not appear to be related to another attempted child abduction in Wheaton that took place in early June in the 300 block of Pierce St.
