Woman, 98, Volunteering for Past 47 Years to Glen Ellyn Church's Christmas Basket Program

Frances Lang, who soon turns 99, says she has gotten back a thousand times more than what she has given over the years.

Frances Lang, 98, has nearly a half-century of volunteering years under her belt as the local woman again contributes this holiday season to the St. James the Apostle Catholic Church’s Christmas Basket program, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Over the past two months, Lang has ventured out to stores to buy food and gifts for Chicago families in need and has wrapped and packed the items in four boxes that are mainly destined for parishioners of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church on Chicago’s South Side, according to the article.

St. James the Apostle Catholic Church in Glen Ellyn has organized the Christmas Basket program for the past 50 years and Lang has been volunteering to the program for the past 47.
