DUI Crash At Loyola, 2 Charged With Shoplifting: Wilmette Blotter
Wilmette incident and arrest reports for Feb. 10 through Feb. 23.

WILMETTE, IL — The following information comes from the Wilmette Police Department as a record of police activity and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state and can be dropped or reduced. Anyone named below is innocent unless their guilt is established beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
INCIDENTS
CAR BURGLARIES REPORTED FEB. 12

A resident in the 800 block of Chilton Lane reported on Feb. 12 that someone rummaged through a vehicle but didn't take anything.

A resident in the 900 block of Oxford Lane reported on Feb. 12 that someone rummaged through two unlocked vehicles, with a motion activated camera capturing movement around 3:30 a.m.
Another resident of the 900 block of Oxford Lane reported on Feb. 12 that someone had rummaged through an unlocked vehicle but not taken anything.
THEFT
A resident of the 1100 block of Greenleaf Avenue reported on Feb. 16 that someone stole several pieces of jewelry from their home between Jan. 14 and Feb. 4.
CAR BURGLARIES REPORTED FEB. 18
A resident of the 1700 block of Elmwood Avenue reported that two unlocked vehicles parked in a driveway had been rummaged through between 9:30 p.m. Feb. 17 and 7:40 a.m. on Feb. 18. A wallet containing store loyalty cards was reported stolen.
A resident in the 1100 block of Hibbard Road reported that an unlocked vehicle had been rummaged through between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Feb. 18 with $30 in change reported stolen.
FRAUD
A resident in the 900 block of 12th Street reported that someone used their credit card account to make a purchase at a Walmart in California on Jan. 28.
THEFT
A resident in the 3400 block of Illinois Road reported on Feb. 20 that someone stole 3 metal lawn chairs, a lounge chair and a rocking chair from a second floor deck that was said to be only accessible from the home.
FAKE CURRENCY
An employee of Noodle Café in the 700 block of 12th Street reported around 5 p.m. on Feb. 21 that a man came into the restaurant and used a fake $100 bill to buy an $8.79 item and got back real money as change. He then allegedly tried to pass off another $100 but was refused. Police are investigating a similar report received at 4:10 p.m. Staff at the Walgreens in the 800 block of Green Bay Road said a man paid with a counterfeit $100, getting $85 in change. He left the scene in a blue Chevrolet Impala with temporary tags. The suspect in both instances was described as a 6-foot-tall, 170-pound black man.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Jennifer Juhlin, 36, of the 2500 block of West Jarvis Avenue, Chicago, and Torrence T. Harris, 42, of the 4700 block of South Wolcott Avenue, Chicago, were arrested around 1 p.m. on Feb. 17 and charged with retail theft. Police were called to the Walgreens in the 800 block of Green Bay Road and told that two people had just stolen a variety of items. Juhlin reportedly entered the store, walked out with the merchandise and got into a 2016 Chevy Malibu, which was spotted by Wilmette police heading north from the scene. Police said the pair had been involved in an earlier incident at the Jewel Osco in the 400 block of Green Bay Road as well, but they were not charged because they were not witnessed stealing things from Jewel and the items were returned.
Kenneth L. Baker, 50, of the 4000 block of Enfield Avenue, Skokie, was arrested at 6:52 p.m on Feb. 20 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following an investigation into a traffic crash in the parking lot of Loyola Academy in the 1100 block of Laramie Avenue. While speaking with one of the drivers, police smelled booze and noticed the driver appeared to be impaired. Baker went along with some of the field sobriety tests and was eventually found to have a blood alcohol concentration of 0.18, more than twice the legal limit.
