Homes Burglarized in Wilmette Break-ins

Thieves rob 3 homes Friday, forged check: Wilmette Police Blotter.

HOME BURGLARIES

A resident of the 3400 block of Wilmette Avenue was awoken from his sleep by a doorbell ring Friday evening. He went downstairs to investigate the cause, heard a noise at the back of the house and discovered a basement window open and the screen removed although no one had entered.

Police responded to a burglar alarm activation on the 900 block of Hunter Road around 7:00 pm Friday. When they arrived, they found the back door had been pried open, but the burglars had left prior to the officers' arrival. Police said bedroom drawers had been opened and rummaged through, but nothing had been reported stolen at the time of this report.

Entering through an unlocked door, one or more burglars rummaged through drawers in the bedrooms and dining room of a home on the 1100 block of Greenwood Avenue. Police said various jewelry, watches, and silverware with a total value in excess of $10,000 were reported stolen.

A resident of the 1100 block of Lake Avenue was contacted by their bank and told one of his personal checks had been forged for $2,998.51 and deposited.
