Megon McDonough to Perform 'A Girl and Her Guitar' At SPACE in Evanston on Sept. 23

Folk singer Megon McDonogh, who lives in Wilmette, to perform a musical career retrospective at SPACE in Evanston on Sept. 23.

Megon McDonough, a nationally known singer who got her start in the folk music scene in Chicago in the early 1970s, will be performing an acoustic career retrospective entitled “A Girl And Her Guitar” at SPACE, 1225 Chicago Ave., Evanston, on Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $17 for general admission and $25 for tables.

This very personal show takes the audience on a journey through Megon’s life growing up in Crystal Lake, IL, in the ’60s, through her discovery of folk music, her years as a member of the hilarious group The Four Bitchin’ Babes, her award-winning portrayal of Patsy Cline and more. The show features songs by The Beatles, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Dan Fogelberg and more, all interwoven into an emotional narrative.
McDonough, who is best known for her work as an inaugural member of the comedic folk group The Four Bitchin’ Babes, says she thinks anyone who grew up in the ’60s and ’70s will relate to this show and the way in which music can shape our lives.

“I’m a Baby Boomer, and for those of us from that generation, music played a very powerful force in shaping our identity,” says McDonough, who now lives in Wilmette. “Even though this show is a look back at my own personal journey, I think many will be able to see themselves through the music as well.”
Tickets for Megon McDonough’s “A Girl and Her Guitar” can be purchased by going to http://www.evanstonspace.com or calling 847-556-9756.
