Wilmette Man ID'd as Tower Road Crash Victim
A New Trier Township man was killed when his vehicle crashed behind a "Road Closed" barricade early Thursday morning.

A 53-year-old Wilmette man is dead after his vehicle crashed into a large sewer section staged on Tower Road in Winnetka. He has been identified as Douglas Pendry.
The vehicle crashed just east of Forestway Drive behind a “Road Closed” barricade around 1:36 a.m. Thursday, according to a police report.

“The crash involved very high speed and there were no signs of evasive maneuvers or slowing before impact,” the report states.
Pendry was pronounced dead at Evanston Hospital shortly after arrival.

Assisting with the investigation are the North Regional Task Force and Major Crash Assistance Team.
