Wilmette resident launches art/travel book

Krish V. Krishnan of Wilmette releases his art/travel book

As Wilmette resident Krish V. Krishnan has crisscrossed the globe for business and pleasure, places of peace and power always intrigued him. From the mighty red rocks of Petra, Jordan, to the fury of the Hawaiian volcanoes, he has long been compelled to explore and portray such awe-inspiring divinity through writing and artwork.

His experiences find their way into his book Rambles into Sacred Realms: Journeys in Pen and Paint which was released on April 6, 2015 (238 pages, 113 illustrations, softcover, ISBN: 978-1-941830-92-5, $48.00, available through Barnes & Noble and Amazon.com).

Each chapter includes an essay about a particular site and several pieces of his artwork executed in a variety of mediums including watercolor, scratchboard, acrylics, pencil, and pastel. Rambles into Sacred Realms offers an invitation to vicariously enjoy the adventure, drama, and humor illuminating the author's travels. It is an opportunity to experience through words and images the stunning power of these special sites. The author hopes this book will inspire readers to seek out their own places of awe and connection, near or far. Perhaps they too will look to capture their experiences using art, prose, photographs, poetry, or other forms of meaningful personal expression.

About the author: Krish V. Krishnan is an award-winning writer whose articles on travel, humor and culture have been published by leading newspapers internationally, including the Chicago Tribune, The Times of India, and The Nation (Thailand). He is also an artist who has held group exhibitions abroad and regularly participates in juried art shows in the U.S. He focuses on landscapes and ancient monuments, capturing their essence using a variety of techniques including scratchboards, watercolors, and acrylic mediums. An alumnus of the Harvard Business School, Krish currently lives in Wilmette, Illinois, with his wife and daughter, while he continues to coax his recently graduated son to embark on a study-abroad experience.
