2016 North Shore Trick-or-Treating and Halloween Guide

Find trick-or-treat times and other Halloween-related events in cities and towns on Chicago's North Shore.

NORTH SHORE - Chicago's North Shore has a variety of events planned for the Halloween season, which has been running strong in the region since the beginning of the month. Here's a list of events along with the trick-or-treating times for cities, villages and towns participating.

Bannockburn: A Halloween Haunted Trail will take place on Monday, Oct. 31.

Deerfield: Trick-or-treating hours in the village are from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31. Halloween Hoopla returns to Jewett Park and the Jewett Park Community Center on Friday, Oct. 28 and Saturday, Oct. 29. Friday night activities are free and take place from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Concessions including cotton candy, popcorn and drinks are available for a small cost. Featured events include an all new Zombie Apocalypse Trail Game. Groups of kids will choose to be either Zombies or Runners in this chase game through Jewett Park. On Saturday, activities are available outside at Jewett Park and inside the community center. Wristbands are $7 per child.

Evanston: Official trick-or-treat hours in Evanston will be from 4-7 p.m., but there are several other Halloween events planned in the city. A Trick-or-Treat Trot for Tails Walkathon is a fundraiser for the Evanston Animal Shelter held at Centennial Park on Oct. 29. The city will also hold a Zombie Scramble on Saturday, Oct. 22 and a Bug-A-Boo Halloween walk the same day at the Ecology Center. A Dia-de-Los-Muertos event will take place at the Levy Center, located at 300 Dodge Ave., on Sunday, Oct. 30, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free and the event is open to all ages.

Glencoe: Trick-or-treating in Glencoe this year will take place from 4-8 p.m. on Halloween.

Glenview: Trick-or-treating times in Glenview are from 3-7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31. The village has a list of ways to keep everyone safe that night. The East Wing Halloween Party will begin at noon on Friday, Oct. 28 at The East Wing, Lakeview Room, 2400 Chestnut Ave. It will be a ghoulish Halloween Party sponsored by Arden Courts of Northbrook. Costumes are encouraged. Literary chills abound as Terry Lynch portrays Edgar Allen Poe in this spine-tingling program. Poe will give a brief biographi­cal sketch of his life. Highlights of some of Poe’s greatest works include “The Raven” and “The Tell Tale Heart.” Tickets are $20 for members, $25 for nonmembers. Advance registration required. Doors open at 11:45 a.m.

Highland Park: Trick-or-treating hours in Highland Park are from 3:30-7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31. Also, on Thursday, Oct. 27, stores will give out candy in downtown Highland Park.

Highwood: Neighborhood trick-or-treat hours will be from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31. Young trick-or-treaters should use sidewalks and be accompanied by a parent, caregiver or sibling

Kenilworth: No times listed.

Lake Bluff: Official trick-or-treating hours in Lake Bluff are from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31. During that time, trick or treaters are welcome to stop by the village’s Public Safety Building at 45 E. Center Avenue for the Lake Bluff Police Department’s annual hot dog roast. Tips to stay safe on Halloween via the Lake Bluff Police Department.

Lake Forest: Lake Forest’s trick-or-treating hours are listed as from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31. A 'Tricks and Treats' event is planned from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28 at the Lake Forest Recreation Center, 400 Hastings Rd. in Lake Forest. The event is open to children from preschool through third grade with parents. Also, this Halloween weekend marks the 16th Annual Lake Forest Sailing Halloween Spectacular Regatta, the largest regatta in the Midwest.

Morton Grove: Trick-or-treating in Morton Grove this year will take place from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Niles: No times listed.

Northbrook: Trick-or-treating in Northbrook will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31.

Northfield: Halloween Spook-tacular! 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25. All ages with parent/caregiver Northfield Branch Library

Riverwoods: The Village's trick-or-treating times this year are Monday, Oct. 31 from 3:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. The village will host a Halloween Party on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the Deerfield Golf Club, 1201 Saunders Road.

Skokie: No times are listed on the village website, but in previous years trick-or-treating has taken place on Halloween from 3-8 p.m.

Wilmette: Trick-or-treating hours are from 4-8 p.m. in Wilmette on Monday, Oct. 31.

Winnetka: Halloween “Trick or Treat” hours in Winnetka are on Monday, Oct. 31 from the end of school until dusk. Participating homeowners are encouraged to leave an outside light on to let children know they are welcome to visit. Also, a pumpking carving event is planned for Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the Winnetka Park District Community Room from 5-6 p.m. Hubbard Woods Park will host "Pumpkins in the Woods!" from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28. Lloys Beach's Haunted Trail of Terror is on Saturday, Oct. 22. from 6:30-9 p.m.
