24 Batteries Stolen From Comcast Utility Boxes: Police

A resident in the 800 block of Vernon Avenue reported on the afternoon of Feb. 2 that someone was able to change their contact info on file with Chase Bank, effectively locking the resident out of their own account. There was no reported loss.
THEFT

A resident of the 600 block of Sunset Lane reported on the evening of Feb. 2 that someone had contacted them purporting to be their grandson and claiming to have been arrested. The purported grandson asked for money to cover a bond and the resident wired an undisclosed amount greater than $500.
CAR BURGLARY
Someone entered an locked Dodge truck parked in the 2100 block of Frontage Road and stole its plow control head, worth less than $500, police were told shortly after noon on Feb. 4.
IDENTITY THEFT
A resident in the 400 block of Jackson Avenue reported on the morning of Feb. 5 that someone had opened up a US Bank account using their information. The account was frozen and there was no report of any financial loss.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
A 24-year-old Waukegan man was arrested shortly before 3 a.m. near the intersection of Green Bay Road and Vernon Avenue and charged with driving on a suspended driver's license.

IDENTITY THEFT
A resident in the 300 block of Sheridan Road reported that someone had used their credit cards without authorization between Dec. 7, 2017 and Jan. 9, 2018, racking up more than $3,700 in bills.
STOLEN CAR
A car that had been parked unlocked with a key fob left inside near a garage in the 900 block of Asbury Avenue was reported stolen at 2:22 a.m. on Feb. 3. The vehicle was later found in Chicago.
ARRESTS
Raymond Reyes, 27, of the 5600 block of West Montrose Avenue, Chicago, was arrested shortly after noon on Jan. 25 at a school in the 300 block of Green Bay Road and charged with theft following an investigation into an incident that occurred on Jan. 22 at an unspecified location.

INCIDENTS
BATTERY THEFT
A Comcast employee reported on Feb. 2 that someone had stolen 24 batteries from unlocked utility boxes in four separate locations on Jan. 31 for a total loss of more than $5,500. Detectives are investigating thefts at 2069 Old Willow Road, Wagner Road and Bosworth Lane, Wagner Road and Winnetka Road and Glen Oak Drive and Winnetka Road
CRIMINAL TRESPASSING
A resident in the 200 block of Lagoon Drive reported around 1 a.m. on Feb. 4 that they believed that someone had entered their home without permission while they had been out of town on business.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
A 38-year-old Chicago woman was arrested at 3:04 p.m. on Feb. 2 in the 1900 block of Willow Road and charged with driving with a suspended licene. She was also cited for using an electronic device while driving.
A 20-year-old Zion man was arrested shortly before 6 p.m. on Feb. 2 and charged with driving without a valid license or insurance and speeding following a traffic stop near the intersection of Tower Road and West Frontage Road.
