Alleged Chase Bank Robber Caught by FBI
Michael Rivers told special agents he demanded $30,000 from the bank on Saturday because he wanted to buy a house worth $29,900.

GLENCOE, IL - A 23-year-old Chicago man has been charged with bank robbery in the heist that occurred at the Chase Bank on Green Bay Road on Saturday.
In charges brought forth by Herbert E. Hogberg, a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Michael W. Rivers Jr. is accused of making off with $30,000 after demanding that amount from two tellers at the bank while threatening them with a knife.
Rivers was first identified as the bank robber by someone who works with him and who saw a photograph of the robber on the Internet, according to the FBI complaint. The FBI followed up with a supervisor from the work company, who provided a photograph of Rivers wearing what appeared to be the same tan hooded sweatshirt he was allegedly wearing during the commission of the robbery.

Both tellers later identified the photo in a lineup.

The complaint states Rivers entered the bank at 1:50 p.m. with a knife and told a teller "Give me $30,000 from the vault." Two tellers then retrieved three separate stacks of $10,000 bills and handed it to Rivers, who put the money in a backpack and left the bank.
No GPS tracking bills, bait bills or ones with dye packs were included, but Rivers admitted to his involvement in the robbery after he was arrested at his workplace Monday and a search of his residence in the 8700 block of South Michigan Avenue in Chicago resulted in the finding of more than $30,000 in cash.
He told investigators he demanded $30,000 because there was a house he wanted to buy that cost $29,900, according to the FBI complaint. He also admitted to pulling off a bank robbery in September in which more than $2,000 was taken. $600 of that cash was found during the search of his residence on Monday.
Hogberg alleges Rivers was wearing the same tan hooded sweatshirt as he was during the robbery when he was taken into custody at work.
