Arrests After Home Burglary, 'Traffic Altercation': Blotters

WINNETKA, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Winnetka and Northfield police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. WINNETKA

INCIDENTS

CAR BURGLARY/CREDIT CARD FRAUD
Someone stole a backpack from a parked car in the 200 block of Sheridan Road between 10:30 and 11 a.m. on Sept. 24, stealing a backpack. Sunglasses and credit cards were reported stolen, and an unauthorized purchase was reported later that day for a total loss of about $664.

THEFT
Someone stole a light from a bicycle locked to a rack in at the train station in the 700 block of Elm Street for a loss of $30 sometime prior to 8 p.m. on Sept. 25.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Sheridan Road resident reported on the afternoon of Sept. 26 that someone used their personal information to change the information on an investment account and open an additional account. There was no reported loss at the time of the report.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Mariusz Poplawski, 29, of the 500 block of Glendale Lane in Hoffman Estates, was arrested around noon on Sept. 25 and charged with residential burglary in connection with an investigation by a burglary task force into the burglary of more than $5,000 in the 300 block of Green Bay Road.

Alicia Johnson-Medrano, 20, of the 1500 block of Amryllis Drive in Romeoville, was arrested around 12:41 a.m. on Sept. 28 and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, driving under the influence of drugs and driving without a license. She was also issued citations for driving an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding.

INCIDENTS

TELEPHONE HARASSMENT
A Sheridan Road resident reported on the evening of Oct. 1 that someone called them looking for their son. The resident said the son does not live there, but the caller kept asking for him. The resident did not wish to press charges.

INCIDENTS

DECEPTIVE PRACTICE
A representative of a business in the 1800 block of Oak Street reported on the afternoon of Sept. 25 that someone had used the company's account to make multiple unauthorized purchases from a supplier.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD
A Frontage Road resident reported on the evening of Sept. 27 that someone had made unauthorized purchases on their debit card.

BURGLARY
Police are investigating a report of a commercial burglary at 3:21 a.m. on Sept. 30 at a business in the 500 block of Central Avenue.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Mark W. Madigan, 52, of the 1200 block of Lindenwood Drive in Winnetka, was arrested at 12:35 p.m. on Sept. 30 and charged with assault in connection with a Sept. 26 traffic altercation.
