Winnetka, Northfield and Glencoe police department blotters for July 5 - July 11

WINNETKA, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Winnetka and Northfield police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. WINNETKA

INCIDENTS

THEFT
A florist in the 900 block of Willow Road reported that someone stole several large planters worth $400 from in front of their business between 5 p.m. on June 28 and 7 a.m. on July 2.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 900 block of Pine Street reported at 10:38 a.m. on July 2 that someone had damaged flower pots and light fixtures and spray painted in red over the windows and side of the house and garage at a cost of $850 to repair.

THEFT TO VEHICLE
A resident in the 400 block of Orchard Lane reported that someone stole the front license plate off of their vehicle sometime between noon and 2:52 p.m. on July 2.

IDENTITY THEFT
An Edgewood Lane resident reported around on July 6 that someone had used their personal information to open up an unauthorized ComEd account sometime between May 1 and June 22 and accrued $586.64 in bills.

IDENTITY THEFT
An Elm Street resident reported on the morning of July 7 that someone had used their Amazon account to make an authorized purchase sometime between midnight and 1:06 p.m. on July 6.

ELECTRONIC HARASSMENT
A resident in the 500 block of Willow Road reported that someone had sent harassing text messages between 2:35 and 5:30 p.m. on July 7.

ARRESTS

Andrew J. Leemputte, 22, of the 100 block of Old Green Bay Road in Glencoe, was arrested July 5 at his home and charged with misdemeanor theft in connection with an investigation into an break-in that took place nearly two months prior at Lloyd Park. In that incident, a park employee reported on the morning of May 21 that someone had gotten into a storage garage, damaging a tractor and a boat before breaking into a beach house and stealing two laptop computers worth $1,000. There was also more than $1,000 worth of damage reported.

A 55-year-old Winnetka man was pulled over around 11:43 a.m. on July 2 for failing to use a signal in the 300 block of Green Bay Road and charged with possession of an unspecified amount of cannabis.

Jonathan Mondragon, 25, of the 2200 block of West Lunt Avenue in Chicago, was arrested around 9:14 a.m. on July 6 on a DuPage County traffic warrant following a traffic stop in the 500 block of Hibbard Road.

GLENCOE

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 500 block of Washington Avenue reported around 10:30 a.m. on July 4 that someone had put oil and sand into the vehicle's gas tank, causing more than $500 in engine damage.

ATTEMPTED THEFT
"Unknown offenders" tried to steal a video game console from a building in the 600 block of Greenwood Avenue, but they fled when they were confronted by a witness and left the game system behind, police were told at 5:12 p.m. on July 4.

STOLEN CAR
At 11:28 a.m. on July 6, police were told someone stole a 2012 Chevrolet Volt from the 1100 block of Green Bay Road.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Bluff Street resident reported at 3:35 p.m. on July 6 that someone had made two unauthorized withdrawals from a checking and savings account from out of state. The reported loss was less than $10,000 and more than $2,000.

DEFACEMENT
Someone defaced a pedestrian sign in the 0-100 block of Hazel Avenue with blue ink, writing various initials on the sign and causing less than $300 in damage sometime prior to 10:32 p.m. on July 7.

GARAGE BURGLARY
A resident in the 600 block of Bluff Street reported at 5:46 p.m. on July 10 that someone had stolen a bike from an open garage.

ELECTRONIC HARASSMENT
Someone sent "annoying and harassing" text messages to several people attending a birthday party in the 0-100 block of Green Bay Road sometime prior to 10 p.m. on July 10.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Two 27-year-old Evanston women were ticketed for possession of cannabis shortly after 3 a.m. on July 4 near the intersection of Dundee Road and the Edens Expressway. The driver was also ticketed for disobeying a stop sign.

Kyle J. Michals, 25, and Anjelica M. Requiron, 24, both of the 4400 block of North Keystone Avenue in Chicago, were arrested at 12:38 a.m. on July 6 near the intersection of Dundee Road and the Edens Expressway. Michaels was charged with possession of cannabis and having expired plates, while Requiron was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of open alcohol and littering.

Giovanni Delgado, 27, of the 3300 block of North Hamlin Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 4:25 a.m. on July 7 near the intersection of Dundee and Green Bay roads on a warrant for failure to appear in court and charged with driving while license is revoked. He was also cited for possession of a small amount of cannabis and paraphernalia.

An 18-year-old Arlington Heights man was cited for trespassing and minor in possession of alcohol in the 0-100 block of Hazel Avenue at 11:22 p.m. on July 7.



NORTHFIELD

INCIDENTS

BAT BITE
A resident in the 3100 block of Illinois Road reported at 6:48 a.m. on July 5 reported that there was a bat inside their home and it had possibly bitten their dog. Police apprehended the bat and turned it over to the custody of the Cook County Department of Animal and Rabies Control for testing.

DOG BITE
A dog owner was issued a citation after police were called to the 2300 block of Clover Lane around 5 p.m. on July 5 for a report that a dog had bitten a UPS driver.

INTOXICATED PERSON
At 3:11 a.m. on July 7, police were called to the 1700 block of Northfield Square to help a taxicab driver with an intoxicated passenger. The passenger paid the taxi fare and went into his residence without incident.

ARRESTS

A 23-year-old Des Plaines man was pulled over shortly before 6:10 p.m. on July 3 in the 800 block of West Frontage Road and issued citations for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding while driving.

A 39-year-old Skokie man was pulled over in the area of Willow and Wagner roads and issued citations for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and unsafe equipment.

Berton N. Ring, 60, of the 300 block of Adams Avenue in Glencoe, was arrested shortly before 9 p.m. on July 5 near the intersection of West Frontage and Tower roads and charged with excessive speeding — 35 mph or more over the posted limit. He was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.

A 19-year-old Zion man was arrested shortly before 9 p.m. on July 5 in the 1800 block of Willow Road and charged with driving with a suspended license. He was also cited for driving without lights when required.

A 24-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 7:46 a.m. on July 6 near the intersection of Wagner and Willow roads and charged with driving with a suspended license. He was also issued citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and expired registration.

A 45-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 6:40 p.m. on July 7 and charged with driving with a suspended license near the intersection of Willow Road and the Edens Expressway. He was also issued a citation for disobeying a stop sign.

A 47-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 4:45 p.m. on July 8 in the 1900 block of Willow Road and charged with driving without a valid license. He was also issued a citation for driving without a rear bumper.
