Jennifer Close to Talk About, Sign Copies of Her New Novel at The Book Stall

The author of "The Hopefuls" will be at the shop July 28.

On Thursday, July 28th at 6:30 PM, The Book Stall (811 Elm Street in Winnetka, IL) hosts acclaimed novelist Jennifer Close, the author of Girls in White Dresses, discussing and signing copies of her new novel, The Hopefuls. Elle magazine says, “The Hopefuls is blisteringly honest about the circus of American politics and Washington's exhausting culture of competition.” This event is free and open to the public. We ask that you purchase a book from The Book Stall in order to enter the book-signing queue.

Based on Close’s own experience, The Hopefuls tells the story of a young wife who follows her husband and his political dreams to Washington, DC, a city of idealism, gossip, and complicated friendships among the young aspiring elite. When Beth arrives in DC, she hates everything about it. But when Beth and her husband, Matt, meet a charismatic White House staffer named Jimmy, and his wife, Ashleigh, the four become inseparable. However, as Jimmy’s star rises higher, the couples’ friendship—and Beth’s relationship with Matt—is threatened by jealousy, competition, and rumors.
