Candidates Call for Fair Play and Honesty in Trustee Race

Holland, Lanphier and Rintz pledge to run a fair, honest and truthful campaign and call on their opponents to do so.

Whether serving on the Board of the Hadley School for the Blind, the Winnetka School Board or coaching teams in the Winnetka Park District, Louise Holland, Penny Lanphier and Chris Rintz know first hand that the spirit of Winnetka is alive and well.

Over the years they have served the Winnetka community in many different capacities and believe the majority of residents of Winnetka want to live in a Village that is respectful of each other, civilized and positive.

As candidates for Village Trustee, that is the type of campaign they intend to run. Fact-based, transparent and free of the type of tricks and nastiness that may work for other communities but has no place in our Village.

They are your neighbors and your friends. They ride the train with you and run into you at the grocery store. Their kids know your kids and look up to us as role models.

Louise, Penny and Chris believe Winnetka residents will agree that how one behaves in the press and online is a good sign of how he or she will act as a leader.

As a resident of Winnetka, you deserve to learn about your candidates in a way that makes you feel good about Winnetka, not embarrassed by bad behavior, misinformation, innuendo and name calling.

This is how they intend to earn your vote…not by bringing the other person down, but by raising us all up.

Up to a better place to live, work and go to school.

Up to a level of discourse that educates, not lectures.

Up to a conversation that respects each other’s opinions, not tears down entire institutions and the very traditions that make Winnetka the special and unique town it is.

Honesty, dignity and respect are so important to the three of them that they took this pledge to demonstrate their sincere commitment to the residents of Winnetka if you choose them as your leaders.

Winnetka is a highly educated Village with high expectations. But all residents need to do their part to keep Winnetka great. Please ask all of the candidates to tell you what they have done to deserve your vote. Ask them to stick to the facts about their own candidacy and record. Don’t let them waste your valuable time throwing mud at your fellow residents. Any candidate with a great story to tell will be happy to comply.

If you want to see for yourself how much more fun it is to be part of the conversation with real candidates who want to hear you, meet you and tell you in person why they are the best candidates to lead our great Village, please write us, call, come to one of our many Meet and Greets or join them at the Winnetka Northfield Rotary Kids Against Hunger Day.

After you hear their story, you will want to vote for Louise, Penny and Chris because a vote for them is a vote for a positive, productive and civilized Winnetka. After all, isn’t that what the Spirit of Winnetka is all about?
