Celebrate Independent Book Store Day

CELEBRATE INDEPENDENT BOOKSTORE DAY AT THE BOOK STALL ON SATURDAY, APRIL 30TH

The award-winning independent bookstore, The Book Stall, invites the entire community to come out and help celebrate the second annual Independent Bookstore Day, on Saturday April 30, 2016. The all-day in-store celebration is part of a nationwide thank you from independent bookstores to the communities that support them. In Winnetka, the full day of activities has something for everyone, from raffles to baked goods, from henna tattoos to balloons. There will also be a chance to meet a number of visiting authors, such as Mike Leonard and Renee Rosen, scheduled to make serve as special guest-star booksellers. As part of Independent Bookstore Day, the Book Stall has come up with several ways to give back to the community. For a nominal fee to the local poetry journal Rhino, participants will receive an original poem composed on an old fashioned typewriter. Also, for a small donation, guests can choose a “mystery” book—with the proceeds benefitting Bernie’s Book Bank. Independent Bookstore Day (IBD) is produced by writer and former bookseller Samantha Schoech in partnership with the Northern California Independent Booksellers Association. For further information about the scheduled events contact The Book Stall at (847) 446-8880.
