Christmas 2017: What's Open, What's Closed In Lake Forest

LAKE FOREST, IL — The Christmas holiday is fast approaching, and that means people will be out and about shopping, picking out presents and visiting family. While some people — including emergency personnel and employees at some retail stores — will be working on the holiday, many area businesses and offices will be closed.

Here's list of what's open and what's closed in Lake Forest and Lake Bluff for Christmas and New Year's 2017.

• Post office: Closed
• Federal offices: Closed
• Banks: Closed
• Gas stations: Open
• City Hall: Closed Dec. 22, 25 and Jan. 1.
• Refuse Collection: Monday collection on Tuesday, Tuesday collection on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday collection unchanged for week of Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
• Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Schools: Closed for winter break through Jan. 8.
• Lake Forest Library: Closed on Dec. 24-25, and Jan. 1.
• Lake Forest Fitness Center: Closed Dec. 25, Jan. 1. Closed at noon on Dec. 24, 3 p.m. on Dec. 31.
• Lake Bluff Library: Closed Dec. 24-25.
• Lake Bluff Park District: Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Closed at noon on Dec. 24, 31
• Retail stores: Some will be closed, some will be open, but check the hours before you go.
