Colorful Winnetka Garden Was Once a Tennis Court

An unused tennis court behind a Winnetka residence has magnificently transformed into a beautiful garden.

The owner, once a regular doubled player, saw her partner on the court - and in life - pass on and hadn’t played the game in years, according to a Chicago Magazine feature. So her daughter stepped in with some advice, backed by a senior landscaper for Chalet Landscape, Nursery & Garden Center in Wilmette who is credited with much of the design.

The garden is reminiscent of those in France, where the homeowner lived when she met her future husband in Paris during World War II.
