Cubs' World Series Trophy Comes to Winnetka
Winnetkan Crane Kenney shared the prize with first responders in the village on Saturday.
WINNETKA, IL - The Chicago Cubs brought the World Series trophy to Winnetka over the weekend, when village employees and their families were able to see the prize Chicago’s North Side baseball team brought to Chicagoland for the first time in more than 100 years. The trophy was at the Winnetka Fire Department for hours on Saturday.
But as one of the signs posted near the trophy stated, no one was allowed a touch. The line was still long the entire time.
The trophy was brought to Winnetka by Crane Kenney, the Cubs’ president of business operations who lives in Winnetka. He wanted to share the prize with the first responders in the village.

That didn’t stop many Winnetkans - and their puppies - from taking pictures with it. The Winnetka Talk highlighted some of the stories behind the fans in Winnetka and just how long they have waited for such an opportunity.
"I made a bet with my mom when I was 5. I wanted a puppy, and she said I could have one when the Cubs won the World Series," one lucky fan said, puppy in hand of course.
