Drunk Driver Who Fled Police, Jewelry Thief Arrested: Blotters

Incidents and arrests from the Winnetka, Glencoe, Northfield police blotters, March 14–20

WINNETKA, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Winnetka and Northfield police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

IDENTITY THEFTS

  • A Tower Road resident reported someone had used their identity to open up several unauthorized credit card accounts between Feb. 25 and March 14.
  • A Pine Street resident reported someone had used their credit card to make various unauthorized purchases between Jan. 1 and March 13 and had also attempted to open up a Target credit card..

ARRESTS

Jill Ann Jaman, 62, of the 200 block of Hawthorn Avenue, Glencoe, was arrested for theft following a report that someone was seen stealing jewelry from a counter at a business in the 900 block of Green Bay Road.

INCIDENTS

IDENTITY THEFT
A Hazel Avenue resident reported on the evening of March 14 that someone had called from a spoofed number indicating the call originated from a computer company. The resident gave the caller access to their computer and began seeing pop-ups with their personal information and credit card numbers. The resident hung up the phone, disconnected the computer and called police.

ARRESTS

A 19-year-old Prospect Heights woman was arrested at 12:12 a.m. on March 14 in the area of Dundee Road and Skokie Ridge Drive and issued citations for possession of cannabis and speeding.

Johnny A. Gago, 31, of the 9300 block of Bay Colony Drive, Des Plaines, was arrested at 11:16 a.m. on March 14 in the 900 block of Deerfield Parkway in Buffalo Grove and charged with fleeing and eluding police, obstructing a police officer, driving with a suspended license, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and displaying a suspended driver's license. Gago was also issued citations for no front plate, squealing tires and disobeying a traffic control device at an unspecified location.

Alex Ivan Montano-Cordero, 24, of the 4100 block of North McVicker Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 4:30 a.m. on March 15 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater, driving with a suspended license and cited for driving left of center following a traffic stop in the area of Dundee Road and the Edens Expressway. As a result of the same traffic stop, a 26-year-old Chicago man was also issued a citation for illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol as a passenger.

Christian M. Lachapelle, 41, of the 300 block of Green Bay Road, Glencoe, was arrested at 11:15 a.m. on March 18 in the 300 block of Green Bay Road on an active Cook County arrest warrant and turned over to the sheriff's office.

NORTHFIELD

INCIDENTS

ADULTS ON PLAYGROUND
Officers were dispatched to Northfield Park, 240 Lockwood Ave., on 9 a.m. on March 12 for a report that a vehicle was parked in a no-parking zone and two adults were playing on the playground equipment. Officers spoke with the pair, who explained they were leaving just as police arrived.

ATTEMPTED CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 200 block of Lagoon Drive reported on the morning of March 12 that someone had been seen on a home security camera trying to get into a vehicle around 4 a.m. that morning. Officers determined they had not gotten into the car.

SUSPICIOUS DUO
A resident in the 400 block of Edens Lane reported on March 15 that two people claiming to be trimming trees on behalf of the village had came to their home around 10:30 a.m. on March 15. The resident reported the same people tried to make a deal to buy one of their vehicles. No deal was made and officers suggested the resident call 911 right away if the pair returned.

ARRESTS

A 36-year-old North Chicago woman was arrested around 10 a.m. on March 12 in the 500 block of Frontage Road and charged with driving with a suspended license. She was also issued a citation for an obstructed windshield.
