Home Egged; Front Door Drilled Through; Phone Scams: Blotters
Drivers were charged with drugs, drunk driving and hit-and-run on the Glencoe, Northfield and Winnetka blotter from March 7 to March 13.

WINNETKA, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Winnetka and Northfield police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
WINNETKA
INCIDENTS
THEFT FROM BUSINESS
Someone stole more than $5,000 worth of scissors and shears from a work station of a salon in the 900 block of Green Bay Road between 6:15 p.m. on Feb. 28 and 10 a.m. on March 1.
GIFT CARD SCAM
A caller scammed a Prospect Avenue resident out of more than $5,000 worth of gift cards by threatening to hack their computer between March 1 and March 2, police were told on March 4.

IDENTITY THEFTS
- Someone made an unauthorized purchases from the account of a business in the 500 block of Chestnut Street between Feb. 20 and Feb. 25. The total amount of loss was not known at the time of the report on March 5.
- A Chestnut Street resident reported on March 5 that someone had made an unauthorized purchase for an unknown amount on a Macy's mobile account.
MAIL THEFTS

- Someone removed $1,500 worth of Target gift cards from nine different packages at the Winnetka Post Office, 512 Chestnut St., between Feb. 6 and March 5.
- A resident in the 300 block of Mrytle Street reported on the afternoon of March 7 that someone had stolen two credit cards from the mail and tried to make several purchases. The purchases were declined and there was no loss at the time of the report.
ARRESTS
A 39-year-old Prospect Heights man was arrested around 2:30 p.m. on March 8 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 300 block of Linden Avenue. He was also issued a ticket for disobeying a stop sign.
Dusko Milankovic, 52, of the 400 block of Winnetka Avenue, Winnetka, was arrested at 8:10 a.m. on March 10 in his block of residence and charged with failure to provide information after striking unattended property. He was also issued a ticket for using an electronic device while driving.

INCIDENTS
EGGING
Someone threw eggs at a home in the 800 block of Bluff Street prior to 2:13 p.m. on March 10.
THEFT
A seller of jewelry in the 1600 block of Frontage Road reported around 8 p.m. March 10 that someone had stole three rings valued at more than $500 from a booth at a jewelry show.
ARRESTS
James D. Burrell, 34, of the 7800 block of South May Street, Chicago, was arrested at 4:20 a.m. on March 7 in the area of Dundee Road and the Edens Expressway and charged with three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended registration and no insurance. He was also issued tickets for no front license plate and no rear license plate light. Police said he was found with crack cocaine and amphetamines and was not accused of intending to sell them.
A 47-year-old Libertyville man was issued citations for having only one headlight and a small amount of cannabis following a traffic stop around 8:30 p.m. on March 7 in the area of Green Bay and Temple Court.

INCIDENTS
PHONE SCAM
An Elder Lane resident reported on the morning of March 5 that someone had called claiming their social security number had been used in Texas and asking them to verify the number over the phone. Police recommended the resident take measures to prevent identity theft.
HOME BURGLARY ATTEMPT?
A resident in the 1600 block of Elder Lane reported on the afternoon of March 6 that someone had drilled through the lock on their front door, but it did not appear that anyone had gone inside the home.
CAR BURGLARY
Police were called to an office building in the 300 block of West Frontage Road at 4:22 p.m. on March 6 for a report that an unlocked car had been broken into a few minutes earlier. The owner of the vehicle did not want it processed for evidence and asked officers not to investigate further.
SOLICITOR SURVEILLANCE
A Wagner Road resident reported on the afternoon of March 7 that an image of someone they did not know appeared on their doorbell camera system around 4:40 p.m. on March 6. Officers explained to the resident that the person was a solicitor with a valid permit from the village.
IDENTITY THEFTS
- A Coventry Lane resident reported on the afternoon of March 7 that someone had opened up an unauthorized Verizon account using their name.
- A Drury Lane resident reported on the afternoon of March 8 that someone had tried to open up an unauthorized credit card in their name.
ARRESTS
Kenny Bahena, 26, of the 300 block of Cherry Valley Road, Vernon Hills, was arrested around 9 a.m. on March 10 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Willow Road. He was also issued a citation for illegal transportation of alcohol. A 22-year-old passenger in the vehicle was issued citations of possession of drug paraphernalia and a small amount of cannabis.
