NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka police departments and court records as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state, and county prosecutors often choose to drop or reduce them. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless later proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone threw an egg at a car driving near Green Bay Road and Tudor Court shortly before 9:45 p.m. on Feb. 5, causing an estimated $1,000 in damage to the car's paintjob. The motorist reported they did not see who tossed the egg at their vehicle.
CAR BURGLARIES

- A resident discovered on the morning of Feb. 5 that someone stole about $100 worth of kids hockey equipment from an unlocked car parked overnight in the 500 block of Woodlawn Avenue.
- Someone burglarized an unlocked car parked in the 400 block of Drexel Avenue during the night of Feb. 4 or early morning hours of Feb. 5, stealing a garage door opener and bowling gear of an unknown value.

INCIDENTS
IDENTITY THEFT
A Roslyn Road resident reported on Jan. 28 that someone had gained access to their bank account and fraudulently charged $1,047 to an online payment service called Onemain Web Pay between Jan. 20 and Jan. 22.
NORTHFIELD
INCIDENTS
A Longmeadow Road resident reported on Feb. 1 that they had received multiple phone calls from an "incoherent" person.

FRAUD
An employee of a business at 1 Northfield Plaza reported on Feb. 1 that someone wrote and cashed a fraudulent check for $7,600 on Jan. 29.
ACCIDENTAL TRESPASS?
A resident in the 800 block of North Happ Road reported on Feb. 3 that doorbell video showed an unidentified elderly couple entering their home around 3:15 that afternoon. Nothing was disturbed or missing from the house, and the video showed the couple quickly exited. Police reported the entry appeared to be inadvertent.
EMAIL SCAM
A Northfield Square resident reported on Feb. 5 that they had been scammed out of $250 after responding to an email asking for a gift card that appeared to have come from a friend. The resident became suspicious after a follow-up email asked for another gift card.

INCIDENTS
THEFT FROM VEHICLE
Someone stole a catalytic converter from a Hyundai SUV parked in the 200 block of Ridge Road between Jan. 17 and Jan. 22.
UNEMPLOYMENT FRAUD
A Chestnut Street resident reported on that someone fraudulently filed for unemployment insurance benefits using their identity between Jan. 28 and Feb. 4.
SIGN THEFT
An officer discovered on Feb. 3 that someone had stolen the Laurel Street sign from a post at the corner of Laurel Street and 7th Avenue
ARRESTS
Sae Ho Kim, 47, of the 1600 block of South Prairie Avenue, Chicago, and his wife, Yoon Jin Kim, 46, of the 5000 block of Madison Place, Skokie, were arrested around 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 3 outside the Wilmette Post Office, 1241 Central Ave., and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle. Wilmette police got a report from their counterparts in Kenilworth about a stolen 2021 BMW X3 parked in front of the post office and saw the Kims get into it. Prosecutors said Yoon Jin Kim had rented the car from Sixt Rent a Car, 10255 W Zemke Blvd, Chicago, near O'Hare International Airport, on Sept. 26, 2021, with a return date of Oct. 10. The company sent the couple more than 50 overdue notifications over the next two months, and, at one point in November, Sae Ho Kim said he would return it the next day, according to prosecutors. The couple told the arresting officers they believed payments for the car had been or would be made, authorities said.
WINNETKA
INCIDENTS
IDENTITY THEFTS
- A Mount Pleasant Street resident reported on Feb. 2 that someone had used their identity to transfer more than $5,000 out of their Wells Fargo bank account on Jan. 24. Someone also opened up an account at the Pentagon Federal Credit Union using the resident's identity, police were told.
- A Bryant Avenue resident reported on Feb. 3 that someone had used their identity to try to open five different unauthorized credit card and checking accounts with various banks between Nov. 16, 2021, and the time of the report.
- A Sunset Road resident reported on Feb. 4 that someone had used their identity to open up five unauthorized accounts with Chase Bank.
ARRESTS
Michael J. Casey, 64, of the 700 block of Elm Street, Winnetka, was arrested around 10:15 p.m. on Feb. 2 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop near the intersection of Sheridan Road and Elder Lane. He was also issued citations for speeding, failure to signal and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
