In honor of the loan from the Vatican of an official copy of Michelangelo’s Pietà to a Chicago area church, art historian Dr. Michelle Mishur presents a program about the sculptures of the Renaissance master. Examples of early works by Michelangelo, including La Pietà and David, will be considered, as well as later examples such as the Tomb of Julius II in Rome. She also will discuss in detail Michelangelo’s process for making sculpture and provide historical context for the works.
