WINNETKA, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Winnetka and Northfield police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
WINNETKA
INCIDENTS
FORGED CHECK
An employee at Winnetka District 36 Elementary School reported on the morning of Aug. 2 that unauthorized changes had been made to a business check made out to a vendor for a loss of more than $5,000.
GARAGE BURGLARIES
- A resident in the 300 block of Locust Street reported on the evening of Aug. 2 that someone had stolen a women's mountain bike from an unlocked garage between 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. that day.
- A resident in the 1100 block of Laurel Avenue reported on the evening of Aug. 4 that someone had stolen a leaf blower and a bicycle with computer accessories from an unlocked garage sometime after the evening of Aug. 1 for a combined loss of $4,500.
BICYCLE THEFT
A resident in the 500 block of Meadow Lane reported on Aug. 4 that someone had stolen an unattended bicycle left on a sidewalk for a loss of $100.

A 72-year-old Deerfield man was issued a municipal disorderly conduct citation around 6 p.m. on July 22 in the 500 block of Lincoln Avenue after a report of a disturbance in the area.
Christian M. LaChapelle, 41, of the 300 block of Green Bay Road in Glencoe, was arrested at 7:52 p.m. on July 28 at his home and charged with disorderly conduct in connection with a report of an argument in progress, during which police learned there was an active warrant for his arrest.
A 30-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 12:41 p.m. on July 31 following a traffic stop in the 800 block of Green Bay Road and charged with driving with a suspended license. He was also issued citations for improper display of license plates, violation of motorcycle licence classification and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle.

INCIDENTS
CRIMINAL TRESPASSING
A resident in the 1100 block of Oak Ridge Drive reported on the evening of July 25 that someone had rummaged through an unlocked parked car.
STOLEN CAR
A resident in the 200 block of Wentworth Avenue reported at 10:41 a.m. on July 27 that someone had gotten into an unlocked garage and stolen a 2016 Volvo that had the keys left inside, as well as a garage door opener from an unlocked 2016 Mercedes that had been parked in the driveway.
DEFACEMENT
A resident in the 1000 block of Forestway Drive reported at 4:52 p.m. on July 27 that someone had marked up a decorative boulder with "non-distinguishable marks" from a black material.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE
Someone punctured two front tires on a 2018 Toyota parked in the 700 block of Old Green Bay Road, causing less than $500 worth of damage, police were told around 4 p.m. on July 29.
VEHICULAR TRESPASSING
A resident in the 200 block of Old Green Bay Road reported on July 31 that someone had got into an unlocked 2011 Lexus and rifled through it, but nothing was reported stolen.
ABANDONED CANNABIS
Around 12:13 a.m. on Aug. 2, a group of eight to ten people gathered in the 200 block of Linden Avenue fled the area when police showed up. Officers found a "protein shaker bottle" with less than 2.5 grams of cannabis and drug paraphernalia left behind.
BITCOIN SCAM
A Maple Hill Road resident reported on the morning of Aug. 2 that someone had sent them a scam email claiming to have hacked them and threatening to release graphic images of them.
A version of the scam provided by Glencoe police after a similar recent report has included the following text after notifying the recipient a password has been compromised:
Option One is to ignore this email. Let's see what is going to happen if you pick this option. I will definitely send your video recording to all of your contacts including relatives, co-workers, etc. It does not save you from the humiliation your household will ought to face when relatives and buddies discover your unpleasant videos from me.
Other Option is to send me $ 3200. We’ll call this my “confidentiality charges”. Now let me tell you what happens if you choose this path. Your secret remains your secret. I will delete the recording immediately. You continue on with your routine life that nothing like this ever occurred.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 100 block of Beach Road reported at 12:26 p.m. on Aug. 5 that someone had broken one of their windows by throwing an egg at their house.
IDENTITY THEFT
A resident in the 500 block of Washington Avenue reported at 12:38 p.m. on Aug. 6 that someone had opened a PayPal account and charged more than $3,000, however the account was closed without any loss.
CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT
It was discovered at 6:46 a.m. on Aug. 7 that someone had drawn some letters on a wall in the 600 block of Vernon Avenue using a black marker and causing less than $300 in damage.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Alexander M. Diamond, 28, of the 2400 block of Center Avenue in Northbrook, was arrested at 9:55 p.m. on July 29 following a traffic stop near the intersection of Dundee Road and the Edens Expressway. He was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of between 100 and 500 grams of cannabis. He was also cited for illegal transportation of alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia and having only one functioning tail light.
Steven A. Fuentes, 29, of the 4900 block of Gunnison Street in Chicago, was arrested at 8:03 p.m. on July 31 following a traffic stop in the 700 block of Dundee Road. He was found to have in-state warrant and was also charged with driving with a suspended license. He also was ticketed for running a red light.
A 26-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested at 8:18 p.m. on Aug. 4 in the 700 block of Dundee Road and charged with driving with a suspended license. She was cited for running a red light.
A 21-year-old Highland Park man was cited for not having a front plate, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of less than 10 grams of cannabis following a traffic stop near the the intersection of Dundee Road and the Edens Expressway.

INCIDENTS
BICYCLE THEFT
A resident in the 0-100 block of Country Lane reported at 4:25 p.m. on July 23 that someone had stolen a bicycle from the front of their home.
CAR BURGLARIES
- Two residents in the 100 block of Avon Avenue reported on the morning of July 25 that someone had gotten into their unlocked car during the prior overnight hours.
- A resident of the 200 block of Riverside Dr reported on the morning of July 25 that an unlocked car had been entered during the overnight hours.
- A resident of the 100 block of Riverside Drive reported on the evening of July 25 that someone had gotten into their unlocked car.
TICKET SCAM
A Latrobe Avenue resident reported on the evening of Aug. 2 that they may have been the victim fraud relating to the sale of tickets to Lollapalooza via the Venmo service.
THEFT
The owner of a business in the 300 block of South Happ Road reported that a purse had been taken by a business associate following an altercation. After interviews with both people, no charges were filed, the business owner's purse was returned and the business associate was told she was no longer allowed at the business.
SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
Police were called to the 300 block of Maple Road around 11:41 p.m. on Aug. 3 for a report that a man had thrown a piece of wood and yelled at a motorist before leaving the area.
ARRESTS
A 53-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested at 12:10 a.m. on Aug. 2 and charged with driving on a suspended license and without lights following a traffic stop in the area of Central Avenue and Willow Road.
A 28-year-old Palatine man was arrested at 10:15 a.m. on Aug. 5 and charged with misdemeanor excessive speeding for driving 35 mph or more above the limit in the 2100 block of Willow Road.
