- A resident in the 300 block of Provident Avenue reported at 8:47 p.m. on July 16 that someone stole two packages worth $100 from their front porch and mailbox between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. that day.
- A resident of the 1000 block of Forest Glen Drive South reported at 10 a.m. on July 19 that someone had stolen a package valued at $135 from in front of their home.
BICYCLE THEFT
Someone stole a bicycle worth $500 that had been left unsecured in front of a a restaurant in the 800 block of Green Bay Road sometime between 12:45 and 1:05 p.m. on July 19.
IDENTITY THEFT
An Asbury Avenue resident reported at 4:55 p.m. on July 22 that someone had used their identity to open up a crypto-currency account sometime between June 1 and 22. The person made various fraudulent transactions, and the amount of loss was unknown at the time of the report.

ARRESTS
A 37-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 9 a.m. on July 18 and charged with driving without a valid license following a traffic crash investigation into a collision near the intersection of Birch Street and Willow Road when it was determined that he had never been issued a driver's license. He was also issued a citation for failure to yield to a stop sign at an intersection.
A 52-year-old Highland Park woman was arrested at 11:01 a.m. on July 20 and charged with driving without a license that had been expired less than a year and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. She was also cited for improper passing.
A 21-year-old Evanston man was arrested at 5:13 p.m. on July 21 near the intersection of Sheridan Road and Taylorsport Lane and charged with obstructing identification and resisting police. Police also ticketed him for disobeying a stop sign, a traffic control device and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.

INCIDENTS
SCAM ATTEMPT
An Elm Ridge Drive resident reported on the night of July 19 that someone had contacted them via Facebook after they posted items for sale and made arrangements to come pick up the items. The person never showed, and their account was closed. The resident told police they searched for a phone number for a help line for Facebook but ended up calling a false number. Shortly after speaking with a person that the resident could not understand, they got a call claiming their account had been hacked and they needed to buy a $100 prepaid card.
ELECTRICITY SCAM
A Hawthorn Avenue resident reported on the morning of July 20 that someone had called purporting to be with ComEd. The caller claimed the resident's bill was past due and their electricity would be cut off if payment was not received immediately. The "ComEd" representative told the resident to call another number for more information. After placing the call, the resident was told to send a Moneygram to an account. The resident made the payment, but later they got another call demanding another payment because the money had supposedly never been received.
GARAGE BURGLARY
A resident in the 300 block of Jefferson Avenue reported at 3:16 p.m. on July 20 that someone had gotten into a garage and stole an all-terrain vehicle.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone broke a sign reading, "Curve Ahead" near the intersection of Green Bay and Maple Hill roads sometime prior to 11:31 on July 20.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
A 27-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested at 4:10 a.m. on July 21 near the intersection of Dundee and Hohlfelder roads and charged with driving with a suspended license. She was also issued citations for failure to signal when required, an uninsured vehicle and possession of a small amount of marijuana.
Gonzalo Ortiz, 56, of the 100 block of 26th Avenue in Maywood, was arrested at 9:15 p.m. on July 21 near the intersection of Dundee and Green Bay roads on three active in-state arrest warrants – one connected to a charge of theft and two for forfeiting bonds – plus new charges related to obstructing identification while driving a car with one headlight, with a suspended license and without insurance.
NORTHFIELD
INCIDENTS
TELEPHONE HARASSMENT
A resident in the 2100 block of Southgate Avenue reported at 10:39 a.m. on July 16 that a former employee had been sending harassing text messages.
STOLEN CAR
Someone stole a car from the 500 block of North Happ Road during the overnight hours of July 16 to 17. The car was later found abandoned the the 2000 block of Norfork Road and returned to its owner.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 1900 block of Willow Road reported at 7:16 p.m. on July 16 that someone had struck their car with a hammer, causing an unspecific amount of damage.
ARRESTS
Wright W. O’Laughlin, 48, of the 4900 block of North Merrimac Avenue in Chicago was arrested at 11:18 a.m. on July 17 and charged with felony burglary and theft of less under $500 following an investigation into a Feb. 21 incident in the 300 block of South Happ Road, when police were called to a pet grooming business at 6:38 a.m. for a report of an overnight burglary. In that incident, someone had stolen $200 from the register, various dog grooming tools and multiple bags of dog food.
Rene H. Burger, 55, of the 5600 block of Washington Street in Lexington, Michigan, was arrested at 6:22 a.m. on July 20 and charged with domestic battery in connection with a July 7 incident that took place at an unspecified Northfield location.
