Flags in Winnetka Flown at Half-Staff

Village will honor victims of last weekend's boating tragedy in Wisconsin by flying flags at half-staff.

WINNETKA, IL - Flags in the village of Winnetka will be flown at half-mast over the weekend in honor of the four people killed over New Year’s weekend in a canoe accident on a southern Wisconsin lake.

According to a village memo sent Friday, the community “extends deepest sympathies to the Winnetka and Wilmette families who experienced tragic losses.”

“Our heartfelt condolences are also offered to the extended families and friends who knew these young men.”

All four who died on Mill Lake, part of the Lake Beulah chain of lakes, have been identified as former students at New Trier High School.
