Fleeing Suspects Drive At Cops; Man Jumps On CTA Tracks: Blotter
Resident finds burglars in his garage; stolen car later discovered heavily damaged in Chicago: New Trier Township Police Blotters

NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka police departments and court records as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state, and county prosecutors often choose to drop or reduce them. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless later proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
GLENCOE
INCIDENTS
DOG SCAM
A Hohlfelder Road resident reported on Nov. 13 that they had sent a $500 to someone they had met on the internet on Sept. 12 as a deposit payment for a dog, but they never received the dog or a refund.
PACKAGE THEFT
Someone stole two packages containing about $62 worth of items from the front porch of a home in the 600 block of Greenleaf Avenue prior to 12:15 a.m. Nov. 15. They were later found in the road near the intersection of Greenleaf and Hawthorne avenues and returned to the owner.

IDENTITY THEFTS
- A Woodlawn Avenue resident reported on Nov. 15 that someone had used their identity to open two bank accounts.
- An Old Elm Lane resident reported on Nov. 17 that someone had used their identity to open two credit card accounts, which were later used to make a $131.16 online purchase from Walmart.
ARRESTS
Adan Flores Jr., 24, of the 3700 block of Cuyler Avenue, Berwyn, was arrested around 5:30 a.m. on Nov. 13 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater following a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Frontage Road. Officers also cited him for improper parking on the roadway.

BIKE THEFT
Someone stole a possibly unlocked bicycle worth about $100 that had been left at the rack at Joseph Sears School, 542 Abbotsford Road, between Nov. 4 and Nov. 9.
NORTHFIELD
INCIDENTS
FRAUD
A resident in the 500 bock of Woodland Lane South reported on Nov. 11 that someone had made more than $16,000 in unauthorized transactions on their account from in August.
THEFT
A resident in the 1700 block of Orchard Lane reported on Nov. 11 that their Waste Management trash receptacle was stolen from the rear of their property at some point.

INCIDENTS
GARAGE BURGLARY
Someone got into an unlocked car inside a garage the 500 block of Linden Avenue and stole various unspecified items from inside on or before Nov. 5.
THEFT
Someone stole a Chestnut Avenue street sign from the 2100 block of Chestnut Avenue on or before Nov. 6.
VIOLATION OF ORDER OF PROTECTION
Around 11 p.m. on Nov. 6, a Cove Lane resident reported that their spouse had sent them a text message in violation of a recently served order of protection. A Wilmette officer spoke to the spouse.
AGGRAVATED FLEEING
An officer encountered a white Jeep speeding west in the 2300 block of Lake Avenue around 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 7. At one point, the driver headed for the squad car, causing the officer to take "evasive action." Another officer encountered the same car stopped on the Edens Expressway at Lake Avenue and flashing its headlights in the direction of the officer. The driver of the Jeep drove at the second officer before fleeing away on the inbound Edens. It was last seen at Old Orchard Road headed toward Chicago.
STOLEN CAR
A gray 2013 Chevrolet Traverse was stolen from the street in the 1500 block of Highland Avenue prior to 10 p.m. Nov. 6. The car contained a purse and credit cards, which were later used fraudulently in another jurisdiction. Police reported the car was recovered by the Chicago Police Department the following morning in the 6400 block of Milwaukee Avenue. The SUV was heavily damaged from what appeared to have been a recent crash.
THEFT
Someone stole a toolbox from a driveway apron outside of a garage in the 1500 block of Walnut avenue on or before Nov. 6.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone damaged the rear drivers side window of an Audi parked in the 100 block of Laurel Avenue on or before Nov. 9.
AGGRAVATED FLEEING/STOLEN CAR/GARAGE BURGLARY
A resident in the 2200 block of Lake Avenue reported around 9 p.m. on Nov. 11 that he had encountered two people in his garage without permission. Officers found a red Mazda CX7 with two people inside in the 1000 block of Ridge Road. The car fled south at high speeds until officers ended the pursuit at Dempster Street. Police later learned the car had been stolen from Skokie around 8:15 a.m. that morning.
CAR BURGLARIES
- Someone stole unspecified personal items from an unlocked car parked in the 500 block of Linden Avenue on or before Nov. 10.
- Someone stole cash and personal items from an unlocked car parked in the 400 block of Wilmette Circle on or before Nov. 12.
ARRESTS
Victor L. Butts, 48, with no permanent address, was arrested around 1 p.m. on Nov. 8 and charged with criminal trespassing to state-supported land following an encounter with police at the CTA Purple Line station, 349 Linden Ave. Officers were dispatched to the station for a report of a intoxicated person. Once they arrived, Butts, who was described as intoxicated, jumped off the platform and onto the tracks before officers took him into custody.
WINNETKA
INCIDENTS
IDENTITY THEFTS
- Someone used the identity of a Sheridan Road resident to fraudulently apply for unemployment insurance benefits on Nov. 7.
- A Sunset Road resident reported on Nov. 12 that someone had used their identity in May 2020 to open unauthorized Home Depot and Napa Auto Parts credit cards for an unknown loss.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Sergio A. Perez, 39, of the 3400 block of South 53rd Street, Cicero, was arrested at the Winnetka Police Department on Nov. 11 in connection with an investigation into a credit card reported stolen in August.
