NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka police departments and court records as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state, and county prosecutors often choose to drop or reduce them. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless later proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.


GLENCOE

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE
Someone damaged four vehicles in the lot of the Carmax at 2000 Frontage Road, causing an unknown amount of damage at some point prior to noon on Oct. 29.

THEFT OF LOST/UNATTENDED ITEM
A Glencoe resident reported that someone had stolen their wallet from inside a purse after they had left it at the Starbucks, 347 Park Ave. Various credit cards and $150 in crash were reported stolen.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE
A resident in the 1600 block of Frontage Road reported on Nov. 3 that someone had stolen a license plate at some point during the prior week from an unknown location.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD
A resident of the 300 block of Jefferson Avenue reported on Nov. 7 that someone had used their credit card to make more than $231 in unauthorized purchases.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
Someone damaged the slats of a partially rotted fence in the 2100 block of Frontage Road prior to the morning of Nov. 9, causing an unknown amount of damage.

IDENTITY THEFTS

  • A Terrance Court resident reported on Oct. 24 that someone had used their identity to try to open two bank accounts.
  • An Apple Tree Lane resident reported on Oct. 29 that they had gotten an email that appeared to have come from the BestBuy subsidiary Geek Squad. The resident called the number provided and gave over their identifying information, but later became suspicious and called their bank.
  • An Old Green Road resident and a Valley Road Resident both reported on Nov. 1 that someone had used their identity to open a bank account.
  • On Nov. 2, a Lincoln Avenue resident reported that someone had opened a bank account using their identity.
  • An Apple Tree Lane resident reported on Nov. 5 hat someone had used their identity to open a bank account.
  • Someone opened a utility account using the identity of a Harbor Street resident at some point prior to Nov. 8.
  • A Village Court resident reported on Nov. 9 that someone had used their identity to fraudulently apply for unemployment insurance benefits.
  • A Greenwood Avenue resident reported Nov. 9 that someone had used their identity to open four bank accounts.

ARRESTS

A 24-year-old Highland Park man was arrested around 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 28 and charged with driving without a valid license and issued citations for operating a vehicle while using an electronic communication device, disobeying a traffic control device and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Jacalyn Walters, 23, of the 600 block of Ivy Court, Round Lake Beach, was arrested around 4 p.m. Nov. 6 on a bond forfeiture warrant issued in connection with a charge of possession of a controlled substance.


KENILWORTH

INCIDENTS

IDENTITY THEFTS

  • An Oxford Road resident reported on Nov. 1 that someone had used their credit card to purchase a radio scanner without permission.
  • A Warwick Road resident reported on Nov. 2 that someone had used their identity to attempt to open an online bank account.
  • A Maclean Avenue resident reported on Nov. 3 someone used their expired health insurance information to receive emergency care in Colorado on the night of Oct. 9.

UNLOCKED BIKE THEFTS

  • Someone stole an unlocked bicycle worth $800 after it had been left unlocked at the bike rack at Sears School, 542 Abbotsford Road, between 9 a.m. Oct. 20 and 8 a.m. Oct. 25.
  • Someone stole an unlocked bicycle worth about $100 after it had been left at a rack at Sears School, 542 Abbotsford Road, between 9 a.m. Oct. 29 and 3 p.m. Nov. 1.

VANDALISM

  • Someone spray-painted a rear garage door of a business in the 600 block of Green Bay Road at some point between Oct. 23 and Oct. 25.
  • Someone spray-painted in blue on the rear door of a business in the 500 block of Green Bay Road during the night of Oct. 24 or early morning hours of Oct. 25, causing less than $100 in repair costs.
  • Someone spray-painted the wall of the Skokie Ditch in the 600 block of Green Bay Road prior to the morning of Nov. 1, causing about $100 to clean.

NORTHFIELD

INCIDENTS

EMBEZZLEMENT

Representatives of Fields BMW and Volvo, 700 W. Frontage Road, reported that an office manager for Fields Volvo had pilfered an unknown amount of money from the company over a period of several years through a series of unauthorized transactions.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON
Police were called to the first block of Bridlewood Lane on the afternoon of Oct. 27, where a resident told them that the day before, between 6:20 and 6:55 a.m., an unfamiliar man had parked in the street and allegedly told another resident that he was a painter looking for a specific address on the block for work.

AIRLINE MILE FRAUD
Someone compromised an online airline mileage account of a Fox Meadow Circle resident prior to the afternoon of Oct. 31.

ROAD RAGE
A Wilmette resident reported on the evening of Nov. 4 that the driver of a speeding vehicle on Willow Road stopped at a red light, got out and confronted the caller in the road before the Wilmette man called 911.

ARRESTS

Ricardo G. Franco, 22, of the 700 block of North Deer Run Drive, Palatine, was arrested around 5:30 a.m. on Nov. 7 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop in the 2100 block of Willow Road. He was also issued a speeding ticket.

BIKE THEFTS

  • Someone stole a maroon bicycle of unspecified brand and value from the Metra Lot at 722 Green Bay Road on or before Oct. 22.
  • Someone stole a black men's REI City 24-speed bicycle and a black women's hybrid bicycle from a detached garage in the 200 block of Greenleaf Avenue on or before Oct. 24 for an unspecified loss.
  • A green Trek Farley bicycle of unspecified value was stolen from an unlocked garage in the 200 block of Greenleaf Avenue on or before Oct. 27.

RETAIL THEFTS

  • A man and woman in their 20s stole unspecified items of unspecified value from the Walgreens, 3232 Lake Ave., police were told around noon on Oct. 22.
  • A man in a blue knit hat, black sweatshirt, black sweat pants and a pair of different colored Croc shoes stole unspecified retail items from an unspecified business in the 400 block of Linden Avenue in two separate incident. No loss was reported.

CAR BURGLARY
Someone burglarized a car parked in the 1500 block of Wilmette Avenue and stole unspecified personal items on or before Oct. 22.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Officers were called to the 800 block of Laramie Avenue for a report of two people acting erratically at some point on Oct. 24, with one of them running into trees and a lamp post, causing unspecified damage. The two people were later seen leaving the area in a black Hyundai.

COUNTERFEIT CASH
A Linden Avenue resident reported on Oct. 25 that a Mobil gas station in Shorewood had given him two counterfeit $20 bills as change on Oct. 23.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
On Oct. 26, a resident in the 200 block of Sunset Drive reported that someone had broken the rear window of their Chevrolet Trailblazer.

BATTERY
After a passerby reported that two men had been fighting in the 200 block of Skokie Boulevard on the morning of Oct. 26, officers met up with one of the people involved. He explained that an unidentified man who appeared to be 30- to 40-years-old with grayish hair and walking a beige and white dog had said something unintelligible to him before punching him in the head.

PHONE THEFT
Someone stole a cell phone from the front desk unspecified business in the 400 block of Linden Avenue on Oct. 26. The phone was later found on a CTA Red Line train.

WALLET THEFT
An employee at the Fresh Market, 3232 Lake Ave., reported around 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 28 that someone had stolen her wallet from the pocket of a coat that was left at the register where she was working. Someone tried to use the card at a retail store a short time later.

VANDALISM
On the night of Oct. 29, an officer noticed someone had damaged the "Welcome to Loyola Academy" sign at the south entrance to the parking lot at 1100 Laramie Ave.

ASSAULT
The estranged father of a woman visiting a relative on Oct. 31 reportedly yelled at her and pounded on the roof of her car as she tried to drive away on Skokie Boulevard.

VIOLATION OF ORDER OF PROTECTION
A Ridge Road resident reported on Nov. 1 that an ex-boyfriend had violated an active restraining order by sending two emails.

ARRESTS

A 22-year-old Glenview man was arrested around 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 27 and charged with driving without a valid license or insurance and ticketed for speeding.

Robert A. Budington, 52, of the 600 block of Green Bay Road, Wilmette, was arrested around 2 a.m. on Oct. 29 following a traffic stop for a minor traffic infraction and determined to be driving drunk. He later produced a breath sample indicating a breath alcohol concentration of more than twice the legal limit for intoxication and was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and DUI–alcohol with a BAC of 0.08 or greater. Officers also issued him citations for operating an uninsured vehicle, expired registration and improper lane usage.

Joshua Davis, 36, with no permanent address, was arrested around 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 30 after an officer spotted him out of the Walgreens at 811 Green Bay Road and recognized that he had an active arrest warrant for failure to appear in court.

Moises Cervantes-Del Rio, 41, of the 9400 block of Maple Drive, Rosemont, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of a crash in connection with an Oct. 31 incident where a car crashed into the Images Med Spa, 505 Skokie Blvd. Cervantes-Del Rio was taken into custody after an officer spotted him running from the scene.

Maxwell Hamm, 20, of Wilmette, was arrested around 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 2 and charged with criminal damage and resisting arrest after officers got a report from a CTA employee of three people spray-painting train cars at the 349 Linden Ave. station. As police tried to set up a perimeter around the area, the trio tried to flee. Two of them made good on their escape, but Hamm was apprehended and taken into custody. Authorities said he explained he was working on his art portfolio. Police did not respond to an inquiry about the arrest.


WINNETKA

INCIDENTS

IDENTITY THEFT
A Prospect Avenue resident reported on Oct. 25 that someone had used their identity to open an unauthorized AT&T account.

WINE THEFT
Someone stole more than $5,000 worth of wine from a home in the 300 block of Birch Street between 1 p.m. Oct. 29 and 4 p.m. Oct. 30.

STOLEN BIKES

  • Someone stole a locked bicycle from a rack at New Trier High School, 385 Winnetka Ave., between 6:10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 20 for a loss of $200.
  • Someone stole an unlocked bicycle from a rack outside the 7-Eleven, 88 Green Bay Road, around 5 p.m. on Oct. 27 for a loss of $400.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Daniel Jackson, 58, of the 8600 block of East 9000N Road, Grant Park, was arrested around 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 26 and issued a battery citation after police said he assaulted, struck or deliberately injured another person.
