INCIDENTS
IDENTITY THEFT
Someone used the identity of a Dell Place resident in unsuccessful attempts to buy cars from dealerships in Minnesota, Michigan and Tennessee prior to the afternoon of Nov. 18.
WIRE FRAUD
A scammer deceived a Birch Road resident into sending a wire transfer totaling nearly $150,000 prior to the morning of Nov. 20. Police reported the scammer used an email of a business associate with a slight variation.

JEWELRY THEFT
A resident in the 600 block of Orchard Lane reported around 1 p.m. Nov. 20 that someone had stolen $9,200 worth of jewelry but they did not wish to press charges.

- Someone stole pet supplies worth less than $25 from inside a package delivered to the 400 block of Sunset Lane prior to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 22. The thief left behind an empty box from a different home.
- A thief stole humidifier filters worth less than $50 from inside a package delivered to a home in the 300 block of Lincoln Avenue prior to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 22.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Jillian M. Kowall, 37, of the 4100 block of Oleander Avenue, Norridge, was arrested around 9:15 p.m. Nov. 20 in the area of Grove Street and Lincoln Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater and driving without a valid license. She was also ticketed for speeding.
Xavier Andres Padilla-Cortez, 26, of the 599 block of West Eastwood Avenue, Chicago, was arrested shortly after midnight on Nov. 21 in the area of Hazel and Longwood avenues and charged with trespassing and possession of cannabis. Police reported he was charged with trespassing for being on the beach after hours.
A 23-year-old Skokie man was arrested around 1:30 a.m. Nov. 21 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the area of Dundee and Hohlfelder roads. He was also issued citations for no rear registration light and no insurance.
Rufo Vergara, 55, of the 200 block of Washington Avenue, Highwood, was arrested around 12:45 a.m. Nov. 23 in the area of Bluff Street and Lincoln Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also issued citations for no insurance and improper lane usage.

BITCOIN SCAM
A Eddy Lane resident called police around 4 p.m. Nov. 18 to report that someone had sent them an email with a threat to release personal information about them unless they sent $500 worth of a cryptocurrency. Police told the resident to ignore the email and to report any further communication from the scammer.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
A 31-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 9 a.m. Nov. 20 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the area of Hibbard and Winnetka roads. He was also issued a citation for speeding 51 mph in a 30 mph zone.
WILMETTE
INCIDENTS
SHOPLIFTING
Police got a call of a retail theft in progress around 9 a.m. Nov. 17 at the Walgreens, 3232 Lake Ave. Staff said a woman in a brown puffy jacket with a fur-trimmed hood stole two boxes of replacement parts for electric toothbrushes and was picked up by the driver of a white SUV, but officers were unable to find her.
THEFT
Someone stole a power chipper and a chainsaw between 7 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 6 from a work site near the intersection of Lavergne and Wilmette avenues, where a subcontractor for the village was doing sewer work.
ARRESTS
Samantha Lyn Wilson, 30, of the 1000 block of West North Avenue, Milwaukee, was arrested around 2:30 a.m. Nov. 22 in the area of Skokie Boulevard and Wilmette Avenue and charged with possession of various controlled substances and driving with a license revoked due to a previous DUI arrest. Wilson was arrested and charged with felony drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia and issued citations for unspecified traffic offenses.
WINNETKA
INCIDENTS
ROAD RAGE
A motorist in the area of Green Bay Road and Oak Street reported around 7 p.m. Nov. 21 that a man in his mid to late 50s wearing fitness attire came up to her car and accused them of running a stop sign. During the resulting argument, the accuser reportedly spit on the motorist and caused a small dent to the rear passenger side of her car.
POSSIBLE TRESPASSING
Someone may have gotten onto the roof of Sacred Heart School, 1095 Gage St., between 7:30 and 8:45 p.m. Nov. 22. Staff reported finding a door to the roof left open. There was no damage reported.
ARRESTS
Raj S. Patel, 25, of the 4300 block of Champion Road, Naperville, was arrested around 1:15 a.m. Nov. 23 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in the area of Hibbard and Hill roads. He was also issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid a one-car traffic crash. Police reported there were three other people in his car, and some of them suffered non-life threatening injuries. Damage to trees and landscaping, as well as Patel's car, was also reported.
