NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka police departments and court records as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state, and county prosecutors often choose to drop or reduce them. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless later proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
GLENCOE
INCIDENTS
TEXT MESSAGE SCAM
A Grove Street resident reported on April 14 that they were scammed into buying $600 worth of Google Play gift cards after getting a text message from an unidentified person.
ATTEMPTED TEXT MESSAGE SCAM
On April 20, a South Avenue resident called police to report someone had sent them a suspicious text message soliciting $1,000. The resident did not pay any money.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Mortimer Road resident reported on the morning of April 25 that someone used their identity to fraudulently apply for a loan.

INCIDENTS
IDENTITY THEFT
An Old Willow Road resident reported on the afternoon of April 12 that someone had used their identity to open an unauthorized credit card account in December 2021. About $500 to $600 of purchases were later charged to the card.

ATTEMPTED GIFT CARD SCAM
A resident came to the station on April 12 to report that someone had asked them to buy a $500 gift card to facilitate an online transaction. The resident was suspicious and asked police for advise, and officers explained the scam.
VANDALISM
A resident in the 1600 block of Willow Road reported on the morning of April 22 that someone had been repeatedly vandalizing their parked car in recent months.
ARRESTS
A 25-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 8 p.m. on April 11 in the 2100 block of Willow Road and charged with driving without a valid license. He was also ticketed for speeding and driving with expired registration.
Rodney G. Avery, 46, of the 1500 block of Ridge Avenue. Evanston, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. on April 23 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop in the area of South Happ Road and Holder Lane. He was also issued an improper lane usage citation.

WINNETKA
INCIDENTS
THEFT
Someone stole construction materials worth about $2,400 from the driveway of a home in the 1400 block of Tower Road between 9:30 a.m. and 1:40 p.m. on April 22.
BIKE THEFTS
- Someone stole an unlocked bicycle worth $400 that had been left at a rack at Hubbard Woods Elementary School, 1100 Chatfield Road, between 8 a.m. and 2:34 p.m. on April 11.
- Someone stole three unlocked bicycle left on a parkway near the intersection of Pine Street and Ardsley Road between 7 and 7:30 p.m. on April 22 for a combined loss of $1,500.
- Someone stole an unlocked bike worth $300 that had been left in front of a home in the 1100 block of Asbury Road between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. on April 24.
IDENTITY THEFTS
- A Cherry Street resident reported on April 11 that someone used their identity to make about $1,200 in unauthorized purchases using their Chase Bank credit card.
- A High Street resident reported on April 15 that someone had used their identity to make an unauthorized transaction of some amount larger than $5,000 using their account with North Shore Community Bank and Trust.
- A Poplar Street resident reported on April 21 that someone had made an unauthorized purchase totaling about $700 using their Citibank credit card on or before April 7.
KENILWORTH
INCIDENTS
PACKAGE THEFT
Someone stole a package containing items worth about $20 from near the front door of a home in the 600 block of Ivy Court prior to 12:45 p.m. on April 14.
IDENTITY THEFTS
- A Melrose Avenue resident reported on April 14 that someone had used their identity to open an unauthorized account with T-Mobile.
- Another Melrose Avenue resident reported on April 21 that someone had used their identity to fraudulently withdraw an unknown amount of cash from their Direct Express account.
WILMETTE
INCIDENTS
SIGN THEFT
On April 10, an officer noticed that someone had stolen the Blackhawk Road street sign from the intersection of Seminole and Blackhawk roads.
TRESPASSING
Someone entered an unspecified school in the 1100 block of Wilmette Avenue at some point between April 8 and April 11. Nothing was reported missing or damaged.
CAR BURGLARY
At some point between April 8 and April 15, a resident in the 200 block of Maple Avenue reported that someone had rummaged through his two Teslas after they were left unlocked in an unlocked detached garage. Personal items were reported stolen.
THEFT FROM VEHICLE
Someone stole a catalytic converter from a rental car while it was parked at the Residence Inn, 3205 Old Glenview Road, on the night of April 17 or morning of April 18.
BAD CHECK
A representative of Wilmette Bicycle and Sport Shop, 605 Green Bay Road, reported on April 19 that someone had tried to buy a bike and a baseball glove with an invalid check. The man, described as between 5 feet, 6 inches to 5 feet, 9 inches tall, between 200 and 225 pound, black and in his 50s, left the store while store staff were seeking to verify the check with the issuing bank.
FLEEING POLICE
Shortly after 1 a.m. on April 20, a Wilmette police officer pulled over a silver Buick for speeding on the Edens Expressway at Old Orchard Road. After the driver refused to provide a driver's license and fled the stop, police said they would pursue a warrant for their arrest.
RETAIL THEFTS
- Staff at the Jewel-Osco, 411 Green Bay Road, reported on April 9 that two shoplifters, described as skinny teenagers, stole unspecified items from the store.
- Staff at the 1517 Sheridan Road Jewel-Osco reported that a male shoplifter, described as about 6 feet, 1 inches tall, in his 20s, white and bald, stole unspecified items from the store around 8 p.m. on April 11.
HOME BURGLARIES
- A resident in the 3100 block of Wilmette Avenue reported on April 20 that someone had broken into her home and stolen personal items from her bedroom before leaving the area in a dark-colored car.
- A resident in the 3400 block of Illinois Road reported at some point between April 15 and April 22 that someone had broken into his home and stole unspecified items.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
A 22-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 7 p.m. on April 13 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 700 block of Green Bay Road. He was also issued a citation for operating a vehicle while using an electronic device.
Elissa J. LeBoy, 49, of the 200 block of Essex Place, Wilmette, was arrested on April 12 at her home and charged with battery after her neighbor reported LeBoy had battered her.
An 18-year-old Mount Prospect man was arrested around 11 p.m. on April 12 and charged with driving without a license.
Four minors "from another community" were petitioned to juvenile court for charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle and resisting arrest, and one faces additional traffic offenses, after police got a call of a car driving erratically around Wilshire Drive and Glenview Road shortly after 8:30 a.m. on April 14. An officer ran the plate on the car while it was parked in a side street and learned it had been stolen that morning from Park Ridge. The stolen car then sped away and ran a stop sign, striking a car headed east on Glenview Road. The woman who was driving that car was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital. The four occupants of the stolen car took off running and were taken into custody by officers in the 300 block of Brookside Drive, the 2600 block of Laurel Avenue and the 2600 block of Old Glenview Road.
Miguel Zetina Garcia, 50, of the 7300 block of North Hoyne Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 6:30 p.m. on April 14 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following an investigation into a two-car traffic crash in the 500 block of Green Bay Road. Officers reported that Garcia was at fault and showed signs of being drunk before being taken to Evanston Hospital for a reported injury. He refused alcohol testing and was also issued citations for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
