WINNETKA, IL — The following information comes from official reports compiled by the police departments of Glencoe, Northfield and Winnetka as a record of police activity and of those arrested. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indicator of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state, which are often dropped or reduced. All persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

IDENTITY THEFT

On Sept. 13 at 2:17 p.m., a resident of the 600 block of Orchard Lane told police that someone had obtained several unauthorized credit cards. The first card was used and had accrued a balance. After the resident put a fraud alert on her account there were two subsequent attempts to obtain credit cards that were denied.

BURGLARY (ATTEMPTED)

On Sept. 13 at 5:33 p.m., police were told someone had attempted to gain access to a storage unit but was unsuccessful.

THEFT

On Sept. 14 at 3:51 p.m., a resident in the 500 block of Drexel Avenue reported that someone took several seat cushions from a front porch.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Elizabeth S. Sturt, 38, of the 1300 block of Central Street in Evanston, was arrested on Sept. 14 at 11:26 p.m. at Dundee Road and the Edens Expressway and charged with speeding and driving under the influence.

A 41-year-old Zion woman was arrested Sept. 19 at 11:53 a.m. and charged with driving while license suspended after a crash at Green Bay Road and Park Avenue. She was also issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.



NORTHFIELD

INCIDENTS
THEFT
On Sept. 11 at 1:34 p.m., two grills were reported stolen from Clarkson Park, 1950 Willow Rd., by the Northfield Park District. The grills had been used at the Ribfest event over the past weekend and were being stored overnight on the patio. The total reported loss was $5,000.
CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT
On Sept. 17, police received a report of writing on the concrete ledge of a fire pit at Clarkson Park. Police noticed a pentragram in a circle, as well as miscellaneous crosses and other unknown objects that had been drawn on the ledge with a piece of burnt wood.


ARRESTS/CITATIONS

CURFEW/TOBACCO POSSESSION

A 16-year-old Northfield resident was seen walking westbound in the 2100 block of Willow Road by an officer on patrol on Sept. 17 at 12:47 a.m. Police said he was carrying tobacco cigars. He was issued two local ordinance citations, one for curfew violation and one for posession of tobacco products. He was released to a parent.

CANNABIS POSSESSION

When a 25-year-old Glenview man was pulled over on Sept. 17 around 4:08 p.m., the officer smelled the odor of burnt cannabis and noticed a metal grinder in the man's center cup holder. The driver was issued a citation for possession of cannabis (between 5-30 grams) and possession of drug paraphernalia.


WINNETKA

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

On the morning of Sept. 11, police were told someone had defaced a parking lot in the 500 block of Lincoln Avenue using gold spray paint. The estimated repair costs are $400.

THEFT

Shortly before 7 p.m. on Sept. 15, police were told that someone had stolen an unlocked bike from the bike rack at New Trier High School between 8 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. that day. The bike was later found in the area.
