Repeat Drunk Driver Accused Of Fleeing Cops Before Crash: Blotter

WINNETKA, IL — The following information comes from from the Glencoe, Winnetka and Northfield police department as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Anyone arrested is innocent unless proven guilty. Criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced.

INCIDENTS
FORGERY
A resident of the 100 block of Woodland Avenue reported on the afternoon of April 3 that someone had taken four checks between March 19 and March 26 and cashed two of them without authorization for a loss of $1,920.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone damaged multiple construction barricades in area of the 600 block of Prospect Avenue between 3 and 5:30 a.m. on April 8 for repair costs of $1,000.
AGGRAVATED IDENTITY THEFT
Someone used the personal information of a dead person in the 200 block of Birch Street to apply for compensation benefits between Jan. 1 and April 4. There was no immediate loss reported.

ARRESTS
A 49-year-old Glenview man was arrested at 7:47 a.m. on April 5 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop near the intersection of Tower Road and Gorden Terrace. He was also issued citations for failure to wear a seat belt and using a handheld cell phone in a school zone.
GLENCOE
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
A 20-year-old Glenview man was issued citations for expired registration and possession of cannabis at 10:41 p.m. on April 4 following a traffic stop near the intersection of Dundee Road and Julia Court.
A 30-year-old Chicago man was issued citations for expired registration and possession of cannabis at 11:52 p.m. on April 5 following a traffic stop near the intersection of Dundee Road and the Edens Expressway.
A 22-year-old Streamwood man was arrested on a DuPage County warrant connected to a speeding ticket shortly before 6 p.m. on April 8 following a traffic stop near the intersection of Harbor Street and Old Green Bay Road. He was also issued a citation for expired registration.
Adrian V. Croitor, 40, of the 2100 block of West Farwell Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 1:11 a.m. on April 9 near the intersection of Green Bay Road and South Avenue and charged with felony aggravated DUI – due to previous convictions – aggravated fleeing and eluding, as well as misdemeanor excessive speeding. He reportedly fled a traffic stop as the officer was exiting a squad car, driving away at speeds of 65 mph or above in a 30 mph zone for about a minute before crashing into two parked vehicles. He reportedly caused more than $1,500 in damage. He was also issued citations for failure to reduce speed to avoid a traffic crash, improper lane usage and driving an uninsured motor vehicle. Croitor was held at Cook County Jail in lieu of 10 percent of a $150,000 bond ahead of an April 16 court appearance.

IDENTITY THEFT
A resident in the 200 block of Wagner Road reported on the morning of April 4 that they had gotten notifications about various business accounts fraudulently opened in his name.
UNLAWFUL USE OF A CREDIT CARD
A resident in the 500 block of North Happ Road in Northfield reported unauthorized activity on a credit card on the afternoon of April 5.
ARRESTS
A 32-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 8:23 a.m. on April 6 following a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Willow Road and charged with driving with a suspended license. He was also ticketed for disobeying a stop sign.
A 26-year-old Elmwood Park woman was arrested at 1:27 a.m. on April 7 and charged with damage to public property after she ripped a poster off the wall of the Northfield Police Department as she was being processed by the Illinois State Police for a separate incident. She was cited on a local ordinance violation.
