NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state, and county prosecutors often choose to drop or reduce them. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless later proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
GLENCOE
INCIDENTS
PACKAGE THEFT
A resident in the 900 block of Elm Ridge Drive reported around 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 5 that a package was stolen from their from porch or possibly not delivered.
UNEMPLOYMENT FRAUD
A Lake Street resident reported on Aug. 9 that someone used their identity to file fraudulently for unemployment insurance benefits.

CHECK FRAUD
An unidentified thief forged and cashed a $1,000 desk from the account of a Drexel Avenue resident according at some point prior to the afternoon of Aug. 11.
VANDALISM
Someone spilled red paint in the bathroom at the Metra station prior to the afternoon of Aug. 15, causing unspecified temporary damage.

EMAIL SCAM
A Wentworth Avenue resident reported on Aug. 20 that they had provided their personal information in response to a fraudulent email.
TEXT SCAMS
- A Jackson Avenue resident reported that he had given his personal identifying information to a fake Illinois Secretary of State website after receiving a text message containing a hyperlink.
- A Skokie Ridge Drive resident reported on Aug. 22 that they provided their personally identifying information in response to a fraudulent text message.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Michael Armstead, 54, of the 100 block of West Division Street, Chicago, was arrested around 12:15 p.m. on Aug. 4 near the intersection of Dundee and Green Bay roads and charged with criminal damage to property after police said he broke the glass on a door of a Pace bus.
A 23-year-old Loves Park man was arrested around 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 7 and charged with unlawful possession of less than 100 grams of cannabis and cited for speeding between
Michael V. Neal. 30, of the 300 block of North State Road in Lafayette, Indiana, was arrested around 5:45 p.m. on Aug. 11 and charged with forgery in connection with an incident that occurred in 2016. Police said he forged an application for financing to buy a car at an unspecified business in the 2100 block of Frontage Road.
Larry McGinnis, 26, of the 8100 block of South Wabash Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 22 following an encounter with police in the area of Dundee Road and the Edens Expressway. He was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of cannabis. He was also ticketed for having an obstructed windshield.

INCIDENTS
CRIMINAL TRESPASSING
Around 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 4, a resident in the 400 block of Sheridan Road called the police to report they had just found a man in their house. Awakened by the sound of their dog barking, the resident found a man in their house petting the family dog. When the resident confronted the man, he said something like, "I shouldn't be here," and took off running out of the back door. The intruder was described as 25 years old, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, 230 pound and white with no facial hair and dark hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a dark shirt and is thought to have entered the house through an unlocked back door.

INCIDENTS
CAR BURGLARIES
- Someone burglarized a GMC in the parking lot of the Sunset Ridge Country Club, 2100 Sunset Ridge Road, between 2:30 and 3:50 p.m. on Aug. 2, stealing several credit cards from inside.
- Someone burglarized an unlocked car in the 200 block of Ingram Street around 4:45 a.m. on Aug. 15, a resident reported, citing home security cameras. Nothing was reported as stolen from within.
ROBBERY
An unidentified man stole an envelope containing $600 from an employee of a business in the area of Central Avenue and Maple Street around 11 a.m. on Aug. 4 as they were walking to the Chase Bank branch at 400 Central Ave.,
SHOPLIFTING ATTEMPT
An unidentified woman tried to steal several cases of beer from the Mariano's at 1822 Willow Road but abandoned the cart and fled when confronted by store staff.
NEIGHBOR DISPUTE
Police were called to Willow Hill Court twice on Aug. 7 in connection with two neighbors arguing about possible damage to a parked car.
CHECK FRAUD
The owner of an unspecified business in the 1700 block of Harding Road reported on Aug. 11 that their bank had informed them of two unauthorized attempts to cash checks from the business.
TEXT SCAM
A South Happ Road resident reported they gave personal identifying information to a fake Illinois Secretary of State website after following a link in a text message.
PLANT THEFT
A resident in the 1000 block of Arbor Lane reported on Aug. 14 that someone stole three potted plants from their patio for a loss of about $85.
ABANDONED BEER
Officers noticed two male patrons running from the Mariano's, 1822 Willow Road, while carrying cases of beers. Police did not find the pair but they did "recover" the cases of beer. Store staff said the two had provided proper identification when purchasing the beer, and police do not know why they fled.
SLEEPING IN CAR
Police were called to the first block of Coventry Road around 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 15 for a report of two people sleeping in a car, which left the area when officers arrived.
GOLF CLUB THEFT
A Glenview resident reported on Aug. 16 that someone stole their golf clubs from the Sunset Ridge Country Club, 2100 Sunset Ridge Road, between 4 and 8 p.m. on July 4 for a loss of about $4,000.
PRANK CALLS
Police were called to Blue Pearl Animal Hospital, 820 W. Frontage Road, around 11 p.m. on Aug. 21 for a report that it was receiving prank phone calls. While an officer was at the hospital, the caller called again. Police reported the caller agreed to stop calling after the after told them to.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
A 25-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 3:45 p.m. on Aug. 19 and charged with no valid drivers license and issued citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and disobeying a stop sign following a traffic stop in the 100 block of Lagoon Drive.
A 57-year-old Waukegan man was arrested around 7 p.m. on Aug. 20 and charged with driving with a revoked license following a traffic crash at the intersection of Willow and Sunset Ridge roads. He was also issued a citation for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
A 20-year-old Winnetka man was issued a local ordinance citation for possession of fictitious identification following a traffic stop near the intersection of Hibbard and Willow roads.

BIKE THEFTS
- On or before Aug. 5, a possibly unlocked bicycle was stolen from an alley in the 2000 block of Birchwood Avenue.
- On Aug. 7, someone reported that a possibly unlocked bike of some kind was stolen from the 1200 block of Green Bay Road.
- On Aug. 8, someone reported that a possibly unlocked bike of some kind was stolen from the CTA station, 349 Linden Ave.
HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 100 block of Millbrook Lane reported on Aug. 5 that someone broke into their home and stole miscellaneous personal items for an unspecified loss.
THEFT OF LOST/MISPLACED ITEM
The parent of a Winnetka School District 36 student reported on Aug. 6 that their daughter's iPad had gone missing and that it had last been seen July 13 while at Harper School, 1101 Dartmouth St.
GARAGE BURGLARY
Someone rummaged through a parked car and stole a house key from a garage in the 1000 block of Linden Avenue between Aug. 5 and Aug. 6, police were told.
FRAUD
A resident in the 200 block of Laurel Avenue reported on Aug. 6 that they had hired some kind of contractor who had not fulfilled an unspecified agreement.
CHURCH BURGLARY
On or before Aug. 11, someone broke into the Winnetka Covenant Church, 1200 Hibbard Road, stealing various items and the church's van for an unspecified loss.
UNEMPLOYMENT FRAUD
Five Wilmette residents reported that their stolen identities had been used to fraudulently apply for state unemployment insurance benefits between July 30 and Aug. 13.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Carlos Calderon, 21, of the 2400 block of Hebron Avenue, Zion, was arrested around 2 a.m. on Aug. 12 on a warrant for failure to appear in court in Lee County after an officer pulled him over near Ridge Road and Highland Avenue, citing a registration violation.
WINNETKA
INCIDENTS
HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 300 block of Linden Street reported that someone entered their home at some point between July 30 and Aug. 10 and damaged one of the doors, causing an unknown amount of damage.
CAR BURGLARY
Someone burglarized an unlocked car parked in the 300 block of Linden Street around 4:40 a.m. on Aug. 12. Nothing was reported stolen.
IDENTITY THEFTS
- An Elm Street resident reported on Aug. 17 that someone had used their identity to open up a Verizon account and charge more than $186 to it.
- A Sunview Lane resident reported on Aug. 21 that someone used their identity to open up an unauthorized Verizon account. There was no loss reported.
- A Linden Street resident reported that someone used their identity to access their American Airlines credit card, made changes to their account and racked up more than $1,600 in purchases.
BIKE THEFTS
- Someone stole an unattended, possibly unlocked bicycle worth $400 that had been left outside a restaurant at the corner of Chestnut and Oak streets between 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 6 and 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 7.
- Someone stole a locked bicycle from the rack at the Winnetka train station, 754 Elm ST. between 9 and 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 20 for a $400 loss.
UNEMPLOYMENT FRAUD
A Myrtle Street resident reported that someone used their identity to fraudulently apply for state unemployment insurance benefits between Aug. 8 and Aug. 17.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Michael Armstead, 54, of the 100 block of West Division Street, Chicago, was arrested around 8 a.m. on Aug. 20 and charged with criminal damage to property in connection with an investigation in several reports of someone cutting the wires to air conditioning units at the Winnetka train station, 754 Elm St.
