NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state, and county prosecutors often choose to drop or reduce them. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless later proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS/ARRESTS

The Glencoe Department of Public Safety reported no incidents or arrests for the week of July 29 to Aug. 4.


KENILWORTH

INCIDENTS

IDENTITY THEFT
A Raleigh Road resident reported on July 16 that someone had used their identity to open fraudulent accounts with Consumer Cellular and Verizon Wireless. There was no financial loss at the time of the report.

NORTHFIELD

INCIDENTS

IDES SCAM
An Old Willow Road resident reported around 3:30 p.m. on July 26 that they had fallen victim to a scam text message purporting to come from the Illinois Department of Employment Security and asking for personal information.

CUSTOMER DISPUTE
Police were called to Fields Volvo, 770 W. Frontage Road, around 6 p.m. July 26 for a report of a customer angry about their repair bill. After officers arrived, the customer paid the bill and left.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON
Police were called to the 500 block of North Happ Road for a report that a person in a reflective vest asking about a utility pole in the front yard of a home. Police spoke with the persona and confirmed that they were an authorized ComEd subcontractor.

ANIMAL BITE
A June 7 dog bite in the reception area of Becker Animal Hospital, 322 W. Frontage Road, was reported to police on July 27.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Brandon Road resident reported on July 27 that they noticed someone was making unauthorized deposits and withdrawals from their checking account.

MOTORIST DISPUTE
On July 29, a Winnetka resident told police that they had been involved in a dispute with another driver eight days earlier in the 1700 block of Maple Street and they wanted the incident documented.

DAMAGED VEHICLE
Police were called to an unspecified business in the 1800 block of Oak Street for a report that the ignition cylinder on a company vehicle had been damaged, although there was no sign that it had been broken into.

WILMETTE

INCIDENTS

UNEMPLOYMENT FRAUD
Four Wilmette resident reported between July 30 and Aug. 6 that someone had used their stolen identities to fraudulently apply for state unemployment insurance benefits.

BIKE THEFTS
Someone stole an unlocked bike from Centennial Park, 2300 Old Glenview Road, at an unspecified time, police were told on July 31. On Aug. 1, a resident in the 300 block of Skokie Court reported that their son's locked bicycle had been stolen.

SIGN THEFT
Police were called to the 700 block of Greenleaf Avenue on Aug. 1 for a report that some kind of sign was stolen from a front yard.

THEFT TO VEHICLE
Someone stole catalytic converters from a car parked in the 1900 block of Wilmette Avenue during the night of Aug. 2 or the morning of Aug. 3. A witness saw a dark-colored sedan leaving the area with two or three people inside.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE
On Aug. 3, residents reported their cars had suffered unspecified damage in the 2700 block of Hawthorn Lane and the 4000 block of Fairway Drive.

BATTERY
A woman spit on a Chicago Transit Association employee at the Linden CTA Purple Line station, 349 Linden Ave., shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 4. The woman, described as in her mid-30s, wearing a green shirt and having a thin build, was gone by the time police arrived.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Maxwell Olson, 18, of the 600 block of Forest Road, Glenview, was arrested shortly before midnight on July 30 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater and unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver following a traffic stop near Green Bay Road and Isabella Street. He was also issued citations for speeding and no proof of insurance. Officers said Olson provided a breath sample indicating his breath alcohol concentration was 0.199 — or nearly 2.5 times the legal limit for intoxication for drivers aged 21 and old.

Erica Crisp, 28, of the 4300 block of 177th Street, Country Club Hills, was arrested around 4:15 a.m. on Aug. 1 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater following an investigation into a one-car traffic crash in the 1900 block of Wilmette Avenue. A breath sample provided by Crisp indicated her breath alcohol concentration was 0.229.

Eric M. Shaw, 45, of the 2800 block of West Flournoy Street, Chicago, and Anthony R. Walker, 54, of the 9000 block of South Anthony Street, Chicago, were arrested around 11 a.m. on Aug. 4 and each charged with retail theft after police called to a report of shoplifting at the Walgreens, 3232 Lake Ave., noticed them leaving the area and pulled them at the intersection of Lake and Laramie avenues. In the car, they found multiple items of unspecified value that had been stolen from the store.

Richard Harvey, 52, of the 5300 block of North Western Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 8 p.m. on Aug. 4 and charged with disorderly conduct, criminal trespass to property and resisting a peace officer after a Union Pacific staffer called police to remove Harvey from a train while it was stopped in Wilmette. Police said Harvey was intoxicated, belligerent and refused to exit the train prior to his arrest.

WINNETKA

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone broke the base of a speed limit sign in the 400 block of Hibbard Road between 4 and 8:30 a.m. on July 29, causing $750 in damage.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT
Someone vandalized the east concrete wall at the Green Bay Trail and Cherry Street between about 3 p.m. on July 17 and 8:45 a.m. on Aug. 1, causing approximately $300 in damage.
