NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state, and county prosecutors often choose to drop or reduce them. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless later proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

THEFTS

- A street sign was stolen from the intersection of Lakeside Terrace and Dell Place at some point prior to 4:15 p.m. on July 23.
- Someone stole a ring valued at more than $10,000 from a home in the 500 block of Woodlawn Avenue at some pointe between June 19 and June 26, police were told on July 24.
UNEMPLOYMENT FRAUD
A Vernon Avenue resident reported someone used their identity to fraudulently collect unemployment insurance benefits.
CAR BURGLARY
Someone managed to steal credit cards from inside a locked car in the 500 block of Grove Street between 4 and 7 p.m. on July 25 without leaving any signs of forced entry.

KENILWORTH
INCIDENTS
IDENTITY THEFT
A Greenwood Avenue resident reported on July 16 that someone had used their identity to open fraudulent accounts with Consumer Cellular and Verizon Wireless. There was no financial loss at the time of the report.
NORTHFIELD
INCIDENTS
HOME BURGLARY
Someone broke into a garage attached to a home in the 300 block of Eaton Street at some pointe between 9:30 p.m. on July 21 and 11:30 a.m. on July 22, stealing a generator and several battery chargers from within.
IDENTITY THEFT
A Winnetka Court resident reported on July 22 that someone used their identity to open an unauthorized credit card account.
DISTURBANCE
Police were called to the 1600 block of Willow Road around 12:45 a.m. on July 24 for a report of a an argument between a driver and several passengers in a vehicle. After police arrived, the passengers decided to arrange for other transportation and the driver left.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Belasasar Suasnavart-Luna, 41, of the 3700 blcok of North Ridgeway Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 7:30 p.m. on July 19 and charged with felony stalking and misdemeanor violation of an order of protection in connection with an incident July 12, when Suasnavart-Luna is alleged to have followed someone who had a restraining order against him around the area of Central Avenue and Maple Street.
A 31-year-old Dekalb man was arrested around 1 p.m. on July 21 following a traffic stop near Willow and Sunset Ridge roads. He was ticketed for failure to yield turning left, charged with driving while license revoked and processed on warrant for allegedly failing to appear in Madison County court.

WILMETTE
INCIDENTS
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY
Someone broke into the Westmoreland Country Club on the night of July 12 or early morning of July 13 and stole cigars and a humidor from the golf course.
UNEMPLOYMENT FRAUD
Three Wilmette residents reported their identities had been used to file fraudulently for state unemployment insurance benefits between July 16 and July 27.
BIKE THEFT
Someone stole a locked Trek bicycle from the Wilmette Recreation Center at 2300 Old Glenview Road on or before July 16.
THEFT FROM VEHICLE
Someone stole a catalytic converter from a car parked at Mather Place, 2801 Old Glenview Road, on or before July 21.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLES
- Someone smashed a rear side window of a car parked in the 800 block of Hibbard Road on or before July 18.
- On July 20, a motorist reported someone glued a paper to their car's window in the 400 block of Linden Avenue.
FRAUDS
- A Wilmette Avenue resident reported on July 19 that they were scammed into providing personally identifiable information by a text message that claimed to be from the Illinois Secretary of State and contained a link.
- A Lindon Avenue resident reported on July 19 that someone used their identity to open up a savings and checking account at an unspecified bank.
- A Wilmette Avenue resident reported on July 21 that a scammer claiming to be from Paypal had tricked them via email into buying $475 worth of gift cards and giving over the numbers.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Andrew Bermeo, 33, of the 2600 block of West Summerdale Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 3:30 a.m. on July 17 following a traffic stop near the intersection of Livingston Street and Green Bay Road for a traffic violation. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and issued citations for disobeying a traffic control signal and improper lane usage.

INCIDENTS
UNEMPLOYMENT FRAUD
Three Winnetka residents reported their identities had been used to file fraudulently for state unemployment insurance benefits between July 19 and July 22.
THEFT
Someone stole a ring valued at $3,600 that had been left unattended on a work station between 2 an 3 p.m. July 15 at a business in the 500 block of Chestnut Street.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone damaged several pieces of putting sod at the Winnetka Golf Club, 1300 Oak St., between 7:30 p.m. July 22 and 6:30 a.m. July 23. The list cost for repairs was $200.
CREDIT CARD FRAUD
A resident reported that someone used a Cash App card that had been previously reported lost to try to make a purchase at the McDonald's, 858 Green Bay Road, but the purchase was declined .
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Kevin Murphy, 45, of the first block of Robsart Road, Kenilworth, was arrested around 2:30 a.m. on July 25 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following an encounter with police in the 900 block of Sheridan Road. He was also issued a citation for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
Eric Alberts, 43, of the 600 block of Hill Road, Winnetka, was arrested around 9 p.m. on July 25 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater following a traffic stop near the intersection of Sheridan Road and Cherry Street. He was also issued citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving without lights when required.
