Incidents and arrests from the Glencoe, Northfield and Winnetka police blotter from Nov. 1 - Nov. 6

WINNETKA, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Winnetka and Northfield police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
WINNETKA
INCIDENTS
ATTEMPTED UNLAWFUL ACQUISITION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE
Police are investigating a report from staff at the Walgreens pharmacy at 925 Green Bay Road that someone contacted them between noon and 12:15 p.m. on Oct. 29 and tried to fill a fraudulent prescription.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO CONCRETE
Police received a report on Nov. 2 that someone used an unknown object to do more than $5,000 worth of damage to a freshly poured concrete on a driveway and two sidewalk blocks in the 1000 block of Oak Street during the overnight hours of Nov. 1 to Nov. 2.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PARKING GARAGE
An officer on patrol discovered that someone had defaced the staircase of a parking garage in the 1100 block of Merrill Street using spray paint between about 10 a.m. on Oct. 31 and 2 a.m. on Nov. 5. The estimated cost to repair the damage is $375.
ARRESTS
Akeyla B. Gibson, 25, of the 2400 block of Dugdale Road, Waukegan, turned herself in at the Winnetka Police Department on the morning of Oct. 31 to face a charge of identity theft, a felony, in connection with the use of a Glencoe resident's personal information to make a purchase of less than $100 with an online restaurant delivery service in a March 30 incident.

INCIDENTS
PACKAGE THEFT
A resident in the 500 block of Grove Street reported at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 2 that someone stole a package from their front porch, making off with cleaning products, office supplies and some food.
'SECRETS' SCAM EMAIL
A Hohlfelder Road resident reported on the afternoon of Nov. 5 that someone had tried to coerce them into paying about $900 worth of Bitcoin in order to prevent the release of "compromising" information. The resident was informed this was a known scam. Police suggested ignoring the email and changing all passwords.
ARRESTS
A 21-year-old Evanston man was arrested around 10 p.m. on Nov. 3 and issued citations for possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to wear a seat belt and a lack of a rear registration light following a traffic stop near the intersection of Dundee Road and Skokie Boulevard.
A 20-year-old Highwood man was arrested around 10:15 p.m. on Nov. 4 near the intersection of the Edens Expressway and Tower Road and charged with speeding more than 35 miles above the speed limit and driving without a valid license. He was also issued a citation for illegal transportation of alcohol.
A 37-year-old Brookfield, Wisconsin, man was arrested around 10:15 p.m. on Nov. 5 near the intersection of Park and Vernon avenues and charged with driving with a suspended license and disobeying a stop sign.
NORTHFIELD
INCIDENTS
SUSPICIOUS SYNAGOGUE CALLS
Staff at Temple Jeremiah reported shortly after 9 a.m. on Oct. 30 that a man had been placing suspicious phone calls to the synagogue. The caller asked questions about scriptures and religious books and was "asking for a priest." With no threatening statements made, police suggested temple staff avoid answering any additional calls from the man's number.
TREE TRIMMING DISPUTE
Police were called to the area of Southgate Avenue and Happ Road by a homeowner who was upset that a tree service was trimming trees adjacent to their property. Employees of the tree service explained they had been hired by ComEd to trim trees along the utility's easement.
RETAIL THEFT
Staff at a grocery store in the 1800 block of Willow Road reported around 4:15 p.m. on Nov. 1 that they had found empty liquor boxes in the store aisles. Store employees review surveillance video and found tape from Oct. 30 of two people stealing about $900 worth of liquor.
ARRESTS
Bernadette T. Roche, 65, of the 6500 block of North Oliphant Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 9:45 p.m. on Nov. 1 and in the area of West Frontage Road and Tower Road. A witness told police she struck a light pole in the 300 block of South Happ Road and took off, leaving the scene northbound on Central Avenue toward West Frontage Road. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, failure to give information after striking unattended property, failure to report an accident to police, and cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage and improper passing.
Przemyslaw M. Gorecki, 30, of the 5100 block of South LeClaire Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 2 in the area of Willow Road and Three Lakes Drive and charged with for driving under the influence of alcohol.
