WINNETKA, IL — The following information comes from official reports compiled by the police departments of Glencoe, Northfield and Winnetka as a record of police activity and of those arrested. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indicator of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state, which are often dropped or reduced. All persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

THEFT
A woman purporting to be calling from Apple scammed a resident of the 700 block of Apple Tree Lane into providing her the resident's password, buying iTunes cards and giving her the numbers.

ASSAULT
A resident in the 300 block of Jackson Avenue reported being threatened by a neighbor in a dispute over a shared driveway, but the neighbor declined to press charges.
FRAUD
Someone tried to deposit more than $500 in fraudulent checks into the account of a resident in the 1100 block of Green Bay Road. The bank recognized the checks were fake and didn't cash them.
THEFT
Someone took an iPhone that had been lost in the area of the 700 block of Old Green Bay Road, police were told on the afternoon of Oct. 31.
LEAVING INJURY ACCIDENT
On Oct. 31 at 1:47 p.m., police were told a bicylclist was struck by a vehicle who failed to stop and stay at the scene near the intersection of Green Bay Road and Temple Avenue.
FRAUD (ATTEMPT)
A resident of the 1100 block of Hohlfelder Road reported recieving a call from a purported representative of the Publisher's Clearinghouse who told the resident they had won money. The caller asked the resident to make a phone call to another number and told the resident to transfer money, but they did neither.
ARRESTS
A 64-year-old Toledo, Ohio man was arrested Oct. 25 at 1:57 a.m. near the intersection of Sheridan and Tower roads and charged with driving on a suspended license and driving an uninsured vehicle. He was also issued citations for improper lane usage, improper use of registration, possession of less than 10 grams of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A 19-year-old Wheeling woman was arrested on Oct. 26 at 12:16 p.m. and charged with driving an uninsured motor vehicle without a valid driver's license in the 300 block of South Avenue. She was also issued a citation for disobeying a traffic control device. Her passenger, a 17-year-old Round Lake Beach boy, was issued citation for possession of less than 2.5 grams of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A 70-year-old Glencoe woman was arrested on Oct. 30 at 1:37 p.m. near the intersection of Green Bay Road and Scott Avenue and charged with driving without a valid driver's license.
NORTHFIELD
INCIDENTS
FRAUD
A resident of Longmeadow Road reported that someone gained access to their Comcast account on Oct. 21 and changed the associated passwords and phone numbers. The fraudster then reportedly tried to gain access to the resident's banking and credit card accounts, which the bank prove. There was no reported loss and the incident remains under investigation.
ARRESTS
A 25-year-old Chicago man was arrested an charged with driving with a suspended license on Oct. 26 at 8:30 p.m. after he was pulled over for a smashed out rear window on Willow Road at Bracken Lane. He was also cited for unsafe equipment after he was found to have a suspended license.
WINNETKA
INCIDENTS
CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 300 block of Rosewood Avenue reported that someone rummaged through an unlocked vehicle that was parked in their drive between 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 19 and 7:45 a.m. on Oct. 20.
IDENTITY THEFT
A resident of the 800 block of Bryant Avenue reported that someone opened up several credit card accounts using their personal information between 8:18 p.m. on Oct. 19 and 9:04 a.m. on Oct. 21, although there was no reported loss.
CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT
On Oct. 26 at 3:58 p.m., a village employee discovered that someone had used white spray paint to deface a street sign in the 1000 block of Sheridan Road. Public works was notified and the estimated repair cost was $50.
IDENTITY THEFT
A resident of the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue reported that someone used their personal information to open up an account with Progressive Insurance. The total amount of loss was not immediately known.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
An employee discovered someone had used an unknown objet to damage a window in the 100 block of Wilson Street between noon on Oct. 26 and 11 a.m. on Oct. 27. Winnetka Park District was notified, and estimated repair costs are $800.
IDENTITY THEFT
A resident of the 900 block of Elm Street discovered that between Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. and Oct. 27 at 2:26 p.m., someone took a credit card from their house and made several unauthorized purchases for an unknown loss.
